in need of advice. i honestly don't have a lot of people resources for advice, so just give it to me straight i can take it..haha..only one of my personal friends has ever gotten accepted to a us medical school. most of my friends from college dropped out of the pre-med route like flies.

overall GPA 3.13
science GPA 3.05
MCAT 29R
research positions for 2 years
volunteering at hospital 2 years
two week observership of residency program in county hospital
science tutor for high school students
worked at a pediatric clinic for 3 years primarily for the job but also for the exposure to the medical field
dancer for kabamodern for 3 years (i know thats a curve ball, but its something ive been very dedicated to) and was a board member for our youth team..

i don't look good on paper
but my mom said i dont need to be a genius to be a doctor
i just have to be perserverant..
is she right?!

im pretty sure i will retake my mcat once more in may. (my 29 was from my first time taking it in january). but also i was wondering what other things i can be doing to give me a solid application. i'm going along these medical missions in the philippines in the summer time. but i was wondering what would strengthen my academic part if anything?

what are my chances?

You need to do everything you can to improve your GPA, don't worry to much about the MCAT. You don't need to be a genius(Bill Frist is an MD and he is clearly a *****) to be a doctor. You don't really need more ECs but repairing your undergrad GPA has to be your top priority.

If you do not improve your gpa, then I think you would only be competitive at osteopathic schools and MAYBE your state school depending on where you live with the MCAT you have right now.

If you improve your MCAT to 34-35+ you MIGHT be competitive at MD schools with your current GPA.

The GPA is really what will bring you down at this point.

Could you list your GPA semester by semester and also tell us how many semester hours went into the GPA reported above.
