This forum is in fact, like a grave yard... Why are there no entertaining threads? LADoc? You there? Any new "end of the world" news you want to let us in on? Don't you people know that I need to be entertained during step 2 cramming? Is that too much to ask? I know you path bastards aren't that busy with your 9-5 jobs. 😉

As an aside, I figured out my ROL today. I'll post it on the deadline. Glad that crap is over.

First order of biz today:
I have decided to play the new online sensation: Vanguard Saga of Heroes. Everyone will need to buy a copy when it debuts on Jan 30 and log on (that means you Butters). The server will be "Thunderaxe" a PvE (player vs. environment rather than player vs. player). I will be playing of course a necromancer and would like to start a pathology/medicine based guild. Once again, this is non-optional. Dr. Kass from the CAP has put me in charge of dividing up all the 'phat lewt' so if you do play when Im not online, post your goodies here.

Second, the pathology situation in California is more grim than ever. With Arnold's new plan, all junior pathologists will pimped out in the Tenderloin in SF to pay the new 2% doctor tax. The new catch phrases like bareback, traveller to Greece, BBJTC will be reviewed in your residency program prior to completion. All senior partners will be issued fur trimmed hats by the California Society of Pathologists. Those with service greater than 20 years will also get a cane sword and good tooth.

Third, of course the fees for the ABP board exams are rising once again. I have it on good authority all fees are to be paid in a combination of sexual favors and gold bullion so be prepared.

If we already have the fur-trimmed hat-- are we eligible for senior partner w/o having completed a day of training?

congrats!👍

DarksideAllstar?! 😕 (i know it's off topic...but who cares?)

Our bio dept in undegrad had an intramural basketball team called the darkside allstars, of which I was a member. The name is in reference to the way in which our side of the campus (chemistry, physics, bio, engineering) were referred to by people on the business/humanities side, which were located much closer to the student union, dorms, activities, etc.

BTW, did you use the any of the NBME assesments for CK? I took form 1 yesterday and did well, but I was thinking about using the other two to help me gage my "preparedness". Not sure how representative one exam is... usmleworld is killing me though 👎

It sucks trying to force yourself to study for CK and CS after the ROL is in!!!!

As soon as I certified my ROL, my senioritis kicked into high gear making it more difficult to sit through usmleworld's practice exams.

You know, when I was in my fourth year of med school I was creating innumerable threads, some of which were possibly entertaining. This is your job as a fourth year student!

As for me, I am no longer entertaining. Perhaps I will be again some day.

I used all 3 NBME practice tests. I bombed 1 and 2, and then did well on 3. I think they make 1 and 2 intentionally rediculously hard to scare the $&^# out of you = you study harder and you buy the other NBME practice exams = $$$ for them. I think usmleworld is the most accurate thing you can do. Every one I know who used it got EXACTLY what that calculation they give you predicts that you will get - my score was dead on.

I remember an internist once told me that the best part of being a doctor was going through medical school. I am here to say F#$K that! My life is just beginning now that I am almost done with medschool. I am STOKED about starting residency - expecially in the town that I'm most likely headed to - damn its gonna be CRAZY!! I might never want to leave there. 😀

Med school has its pluses and minuses. Fourth year is defintely a plus since it's a prime opportunity to chill and have a good time.

Residency is an exciting time as well...but pathology can be quite intimidating when you start so there will be growing pains.

My 4th year was a blast (less than 5 weeks left...yay!). It's amazing how quickly senioritis sets in.😀

Now I've gotta start cramming for Step 3...ugh.

Shoot man, I had senioritis during my 3rd year of med school...I'm surprised that I got almost all high passes instead of just passes. I considered my MS3 year my warcraft boot camp year! I remember getting out of a weekend call during medicine so that I could travel to a LAN tourney  Those were ridiculous days!

I hated medschool, but 4th year did leave a lot of free time. Residency has been the best years of my life. Working hard, of course, but it's what I want to do (except when I'm on blood bank).

Was your first year included among the best years of your life? (Please tell me no. 😉 ) Actually I think I am starting to adjust somewhat.

I have heard bad things about blood bank from EVERYBODY. :scared:

First year residency is an exciting time. However, most folks don't have good enough exposure to pathology before residency...so expect to experience some growing pains during your PGY-1 year. Of course, this beats having to do an internship year!

I did like first year, just in retrospect it wasn't as interesting!

Blood bank is ok, it just gets frustrating at time with some of the stuff you have to deal with.
