Pretty sure you read enough Chance Me posts to know what's coming.. but here it is for you:

"Slightly below avg GPA will hurt you. Non-US citizen/PR will hurt you. DATs are good, but closer to last year's avg. 20 schools is good. Apply broadly to all private schools."

any of my Canadian friends have any thoughts?
i want to apply to upenn and columbia but seems like a stretch...
should I try? or not waste money...

The advice is the same as the previous poster.

Are those DAT scores from the American or Canadian DAT? If from the former, give Columbia a shot, but if it's the cDAT dont bother since they heavily prefer the American DAT. Penn doesn't care, so apply there for sure.

I applied last cycle with similar DAT scores (Canadian DAT) and a higher GPA (I'm assuming since i don't actually know your GPA) to about 10 schools (including Penn, but not Colmubia). I would suggest you do the same if not add in a couple more schools. ECs, research, and GPA seem to be priorities that Penn considers, based on people I have talked to. So gauge where you stand in regards to that.

Good Luck.
