I got an email from Dr. Berezniak from LECOM-Bradenton stating my file has been reviewed by the AdCom and I should receive a letter in the mail soon. He didnt mention if i got an interview or not ... nor did he mention the date of the interview (obviously) ... what do you guys think of this?? have any of you received this type of email and either got an invite for an interview .. or a decline?

Please let me know ... Thanks!

Dr. Inviz

i have no personal experience in what you're asking, as i didn't apply to lecom, but i think it sounds good!! why would you email someone, only to snail mail them a rejection????

i think it sounds promising!! :luck:

Dr. Inviz

My experiences with lecom-br as posted in other threads- i called them asking about the status of my application a few days ago and was told that my file had been reviewed and that i should receive something in the mail shortly. The next days mail brought about: 'the admissions comittee has reviewed your file and a decision has not yet been made regarding an interview...adcoms will meet to review your application within the next 30 days...'

Hopefully youll receive an interview invite, but im just giving you a heads up to the possibility of more waiting. good luck

well, lets hope that isnt it, considerin that Dr. Berezniak had emailed me a coupla weekends ago urging me to submit in my secondary after having read my aacomas because the adcom was meeting the following thurs (of now last week) to make decisions and felt that i should "strongly apply as soon as possible." He seemed sincere and emailed me 2-3 more times that evening, answering whatever questions I had. I, of course, had submitted the secondary a few days prior to that email ... it'd be such a wicked move to make a person wait even longer especially after all that. oh well, we'll see ... thanks for the heads up! 👍

Well, I am in florida and knew Dr. Berezniak from when he did presentations at my school. He sent me the same email, which was encouraging since I knew he knew me, haha. And, yes I was fortunate enough to receive an invite shortly after that. So good luck! He is a wonderful man, and you will surely run into him when you are there. He even brought me my acceptance letter to me personally and handed it to me in the middle of a meeting in front of about 60 people!!! It was a crazy experience!! more so because it was my first acceptance! Good Luck!

Hmmm.. I got a similar response from Dr. B and was actually quite (pleasantly) surprised. As he asked me to keep him in the loop, I just emailed him again tonight to let him know that everything was sent as of last Monday and to ask about processing time frames. I'll let you know his response. Do you think he sends out notes like this to all applicants? It seemed to me like you and I may have been singled out (in a good way!) but maybe that is just wishful thinking.

Hmmm....strange, but good. GOOD LUCK!!!:luck: 😀

I think we all think it is a good thing.😀 :luck:

Then is it a good or a bad thing?

Keep in mind that the interview season is a two-way street. They spend a lot of time on the road recruiting during the year, trying to get people to apply. Why? They want a large number of people to choose from. During the interview process they all try really hard to impress you because they want you to choose their school. At the very same time that you are trying to impress them, they are trying to impress you as well. One way they can do that is with personal contact from someone high on the staff. Besides, Dr. B is a really nice guy. I'm sure that he actually enjoys talking to prospective students.

Ah, the business aspect of medicine lol

ahhh ... lol, im so excited! I just HOPE its a good thing! I'll be disappointed if it turns out to be my 1st rejection letter!!!

It better be an invite!! Hopefully I find out within the week or next ... :scared:

I emailed Dr. B yesterday as soon as I received that email from him, no replies from him ... :scared:

Aw... I wouldn't worry. I noticed both my emails from him were over the weekend. Maybe that's just when he does his follow up! Give it a few more days...

well, evidently, its not an invite, but simply a "you are complete" letter 😡

nice joke 🙄

oh boo dr inviz!!!!!!!

hopefully the invite will come soon!

:luck:

You're kidding!!! That stinks! Sorry, but I am sure better things are soon to come!:luck:

Well...I'll say...Their admissions staff is can sometimes be rude...especially once you send in your $50 application fee...They can act like LECOM-Bradenton is Harvard or something sometimes...and it's a brand new school that hasn't even existed for long...it's only 2-3 years old...with an average MCAT entry of 23...and etc. They really need to work on that...I surely hope that their admissions committee is NOT indicative of the rest of its faculty and staff...I have two other friends who have complaints about them as well...so I am assured that my complaints are validated...It's crazy. I drove 5 hours recently...to interview there and because I was running late they called me back once I notified them and said my application would be withdrawn. After 5+ hours of driving since 3 am in the morning and I have less than 30 minutes before I reach the school...and would have only been 30 minutes late...they withdraw my application...oh well! It's their loss!

Dr. Berezniak is great...and helpful....but the other admissions peoples....namely Heather, June Flaim

Well...I'll say...avoid LECOM-Bradenton like the plague...if possible. Their admissions staff is so rude...especially once you send in your $50 application fee...They act like LECOM-Bradenton is Harvard or something...and it's a brand new school that hasn't even existed for long...it's only 2-3 years old...with an average MCAT entry of 23...and etc. They really need to work on that...I surely hope that their admissions committee is NOT indicative of the rest of its faculty and staff...I have two other friends who have complaints about them as well...so I am assured that my complaints are validated...It's crazy. why did u drive 5.5 hours if u live only 30 mins from there?? 😕

I had become acquainted with Dr.B....He's great and shortly after I conversated with him...got my MCAT back and sent in my $50...I got an interview invite... 🙂 like he figured I would....I didn't have to wait very long...I think it was a few days afterwards...

But still their admissions officers are very unprofessional and rude...so that says alot....I wonder if Dr.B even knows that?

I live 5 hours away from Bradenton when I was driving to my interview...I called to let them know I was running late...I was less than 30 minutes from reaching the school....they called me back...and I missed the call...so I called right back...and they said they were withdrawing my application...

What!? That is ridiculous and unprofessional. You shouldn't have run late, but that's not fair that they would withdraw it. The professional thing would ahve been to let you arrive, interview you, and then reject you... that would really have irritated me.

that is horrible. HORRIBLE. i'm so sorry.

Ha ha...you're so funny...Yeah...fooling around with MAPQUEST...I was late...true...but I am not really mad....besides I have 3 other interviews...and Bradenton would be my last resort anyways...if I was accepted I had planned to turn them down....anyways due to all of the hassle I went thru with them before this interview...It just seems to me that a brand new school would be more professional in trying to attract students...and not turn them away...I know at least two other great students...one of which is at WVSOM that had issues with Bradenton...

no wait... dude... I think you read what I said wrong. Let me break it down the way I intended it to be said:

Let me add to clarify:

If they were going to REJECT you, they should have at least shown professional courtesy, seeing as you drove the whole way there. I didn't mean to bust on you or make fun of what happened.

👎 👎 to someone acting like that after something so unfortunate happened.... definitely not me. sorry for those jerks.

Dr. Max...u didn't offend me...Actually you brought out a pretty good point...

It's plain to see that the human resources department must have been seriously lacking when they hired the "select few" individuals in LECOM-Bradenton's admissions department...

It really...strangely doesn't bother me at all...besides a 10+ hours that I could have been sleep or studying for finals and perhaps $60+ in gas money....

I'm a pretty optimistic person...and everyone who knows me...know that I'd make a really great physician...MD/DO...I have faith that I will end up where I need to be...

It's their loss....but good luck to anyone else considering LECOM-Bradenton....I wish you better luck than I had!

BTW, I'm female... 🙂

Sounds like you have a bit of an axe to grind...

Rule #1 for interviews: Don't be late.

If you can't make it on time for an interview, it doesn't bode very well for the next four years when you will need to be on time every day.

Well...I seriously doubt one chance instance of running late for 1 interview...is indicative of my ability for the next four years in medical school....for crying out loud!!!!!! Geezz....some people...and FYI I have completed one of the 4 interviews that I have received...and arrived early at that interview...which was in another state... 🙂 I also have no intentions of being late to my remaining two interviews as well....

This is real life people...stuff happens!

...if I was accepted I had planned to turn them down.

Now you don't have to go to all the trouble of turning them down. Perhaps they did you a favor. Still, If you live 5.5 to 6 hors from Bradenton, leaving at 3AM (like you said in your previous post) was pretty poor planning. You couldn't have possibly made it until 8:30 or 9, and you needed to be there by 8. Really, you should have planned to be there an hour or more early in case there were problems on the road. I understand you were frustrated, but you have to take your share of the blame in this too.

There are two sides to every story. I can't help but feel that you left out some pertinent information because they are pretty flexible at rescheduling things. I know several classmates who had last minute problems and they all got to reschedule. IMO, the admissions staff at Bradenton are absolutely wonderful, and they've done nothing but bend over backwards to help me and most of my classmates. Of course, we were all on time for our interviews. Maybe that makes a difference.

Lol...I suppose me and my two other friends...all did something way before I was late for my interview to tick the admissions staff off...

I am NOT upset about the interview....tardiness is bad...and unprofessional in itself...but I have had the unfortunate luxury of dealing more indepthly with the admissions office...

And yes they did do me a favor...as you said...so I am not mad one bit... 🙂

I don't understand the reason...why you guys feel the need to stress that...ha ha well that's excellent that you and your guys were on-time to your interviews....HOORAY...for you!

Just so you know I am not frustrated...at all and I didn't need to be there until 8:30...I never said I wasn't wrong for running late either...

and as you said there are TWO sides to every story...and perhaps I decided to depict the one that is NOT often portrayed on SDN...

And just for the sake of not offending anyone...I'll say....that Bradenton...may be good for some people...if you are applying...just make sure you stay on the good side of admissions officers...and try to ignore any rude remarks or comments from them....until after your interview...if there be any...

I can honestly say that the nicest admissions staff that I have ever encountered has to be at Ohio University hands down. Dr. Schriner, Jill Harmon and their staff are the friendliest, down-to-earth, people that you will come across seriously! They are also head of the AACOM Admissions Officers Board...Pres and VP...

I also think the peeps at Nova...and PCOM-Georgia are pretty kool too...and MSU as well!

and as you said there are TWO sides to every story...and perhaps I decided to depict the one that is NOT often portrayed on SDN...

There are two sides...IMO, when you are late due to your own poor planning, responding by slamming the school for it's youth, alleged MCAT average and admissions staff makes you seem immature. It's also bound to be somewhat offensive to those of us who attend the school, have MCATs in the 30s and watch the staff work their butts off for us on a daily basis.

Sounds like you have a bit of an axe to grind...

Rule #1 for interviews: Don't be late.

If you can't make it on time for an interview, it doesn't bode very well for the next four years when you will need to be on time every day.

Its interesting, I've been on 2 interviews, and both times an applicant came in about 15-25 minutes late, after the people started their presentations.

That's ironic...because my perspective of the school hasn't changed pre- or post interview withdrawal episode...so it's not like I am retaliating against the school at all....to be honest....if you would have asked me all of this before a few days ago...I would have told you the same thing...

I was not trying to put the school down...I was simply stating for a new school that just started up and is trying to build a solid reputation for itself...it seems that they would a little more friendly and professional especially in the admissions department.

Please by all means this is not a football game...so I don't want or need anyone trying to be all defensive about their school and etc...no need to go back and forth...

Seeing as I have actual people who can attest to how I felt about Bradenton before I even attempted to go to the interview...and actually validate that my feelings or sentiment towards the school and it's admissions staff have not changed....

I am not saying it's a bad school at all...who knows where it could head in a few years...I am merely stating that their admission department needs a serious professional tune-up...

So let's not even go there....and it's quite evident that everyone at Bradenton doesn't have a 30 MCAT either...so let's not go there...either...

What I was trying to say without being verbally attacked or bashed was regarding the actual admissions department seeing as OP was wondering about an interview invite....

I have NOT in any instance....commented on the schools academic ability as an osteopathic medical school or lack thereof!

Just when u try to end a post in a neutral fashion....someone has to crank up the defensive...

Oh yeah...I did neglect to mention one tiny little detail....I was also sick...and apparently having some sort of adverse reaction to my antibiotics...if that matters...so the whole drive down I am having abdominal pain, GI issues, slight dizziness, and fighting sleep...which could have played a part in my tardiness or miscalculation...

Just when u try to end a post in a neutral fashion....someone has to crank up the defensive...

everyone is proud of their schools. And I think every one of us applicants will be proud of the schools we end up at too. When people read someone saying something negative about their schools they take it personally and get defensive. I think that's pretty natural. Try not to take it personally.

If I have offended anyone that attends or plans to attend LECOM-Bradenton...I apologize...that was NOT my intentions....My thoughts regarding the school have not changed...I only wanted to voice my experiences with the admissions officers...and how I was treated as a warning...to others....Thought I shouldn't have been late...I thought it was a lil...bad to get my application withdrawn when they knew I was so close to their school....but other than that...I suppose...that leaves room for another prospective applicant to take my place...lol...so at least someone is happy about it!

Therefore...if u plan to apply....apply...just stay on the "good" side of the admissions officers....and make sure...that regardless of the circumstances...that you are at Bradenton-LECOM waaaaaaaaay ahead of time!

I'm a pretty amiable person...therefore...I hope that there are NO hard feelings!

I will maintain that they were jerks for not allowing you to come and interview. It was unprofessional and condescending. It's not like you ran late from an in-town location. You traversed a large chunk of Florida.

That said, you should have stayed down there for the night at a Super 8 or something, though. Med school interviews are very important, and of all things to be late to... it is certainly not one of them! I was worried that I would be late to my CCOM interview. I passed it 2 times and didn't see the entrance bc I was looking at the wrong side of the road. I did get there on time though...probably about 10 mins early actually.

i was like 45 minutes early to all 3 of my interviews, lol. Im paranoid.

incoming PM!

well guys, i received a letter from lecom-b today. Turns out that they met and reviewed my file, but did not make a decision for an interview. Thus, they have me on a pre-interview hold until they meet again within a month to re-review my file and make the decision then.

this isnt good news ... especially after all that :scared:

did you hear back momgracea?
