Hold for interview at Rush? Anyone else?

I called up Rush today, and I'm on hold for interview. Is it possible to get off this list and a real interview or am I doomed?

I too am a proud affiliate of the Rush Medical College "Hold for Interview" Squad. I was surprised because I have interviewed at several more reputable schools, but this process really makes no sense and I am not about to try and make any sense of it!! 🙄 I always take the word "hold" and assume the worst...it's a gentle precursor for the big and nasty rejection letter. I hope in your case that my pessimism does not hold true! Good luck, my friend, and don't give up!

I'm on that list too...although I got a letter in the mail stating that I was on hold. Whatever that means! I never truely figured out what it means to be on hold. Everyone has posts about it, but what does it really mean. I guess I interpret it as meaning, "Ok, you got what it takes, but not all that it takes. So we are gonna wait and if you fit into the dynamics of the class (later on down the line when we've established our class a little better), we will let you know.

I, too, am a member of the "Rush hold" category. Strange since I have already been accepted to Pritzker. This is such an illogical process. Hang in there!

i interviewed at rush but i really, really had to fight for the interview, while i had interviews at schools that were better-known that i got right off the bat, very early on. just goes to show, once again, that different schools value different things in their applicants, and that the reputation of the school is an imprecise predictor of the types of students they want to fill their class. 😀 i can tell you for a fact that rush and pritzker are looking for two very different types of students.

Yep, i got the letter, too!
They told me final INTERIVEW decisions would be made by May 15th.
That's a joke, in my opinion.

No, I meant a joke as to whether I'll waste my time waiting around for them. (I have an acceptance, so I think I'll withdraw from there if they won't let me know about interviewing before then.)

i'm on the pre-interview hold list as well...i'm not keeping too much hope alive for rush med.

It's a place I would seriously attend if I only got into it. I just hope that all my constant checking up on my file every friday is drawing some attention there at the ol' Rush admissions office. I'm sort of feeling crummy, but also sorta releived because I didnt get any interviews last year or any holds, just straight rejections. To be on hold for an interview means that I'm at least not a frivolous candidate for interview right?

I am sending my letter of withdrawal to Rush this week, as I don't think I could stand the formal rejection. Good luck to the rest of you waiting!

Good luck to the rest of you waiting!•••••unless you know for sure that you wouldn't go to rush, that's kind of an irrational decision, don't you think? i in fact do know of plenty of people who have gotten interviews after getting a 'hold' letter. 'hold' means 'no rejection'!!! optimism, people!! 😀

sandflea is right, one of my good friends got an interview in april and got in off the waitlist in may. dont lose hope!

Hey Everybody! Back in late January I was placed on the pre-interview hold list. Well on April 11 I received a letter offering me an interview 🙂

Well, there's hope left. I was invited for an interview recently and have to say the experience was pretty good. I was previously on a HOLD list so I guess it shows that being on HOLD is okay for awhile. My interview went so well, I'm thinking of canceling 2 others and getting rejection letters drafted for 2 more. There's hope!
