Hey everyone,

I have an early interview with a school. Actually I heard back so quick that if they accept me it will be just around the time I get invites to MD and other DO programs. I really like this school and it is my top DO choice.

Can I hold a seat? Can I pay the reg fees and then see what happens when I interview elsewhere? Are there any penalties for this?

Thanks,
sepaul

Your going to throw away $1000 plus bucks just to hold a seat and see what else happens. Not very nice and VERY expensive

All the DO schools require that you submit a substantial deposit when you are accepted. If you are accepted this early on-most of the schools require the deposit by Dec. 14th-but a few require it earlier. If you are accepted after Nov. 15h-I believe you have 30 days to come up with the deposit. This deposit is between $500-$2,000 depending on the school. There is no penalty for holding a slot and then withdrawing later on, but the deposit is nonrefundable (although it is applied towards your tuition at that school).

If you prefer to go to an MD school, and you think your chances are good at getting accepted there, then I would not submit the deposit just to hold a slot at a DO school because someone else might really want it-and you would be losing money (and hurting those who are still waiting to get in).

Whatever you do, as soon as you make a decision, please let the school know so they can move ahead with filling their class. :luck:
