Heard different things from people both on and off this website...
One friend of mine last year was accepted at 4 schools total but wouldn't hold onto more than 1 at a time (i.e. as soon as he got a new one would only keep the one he liked the most)
An acquaintance in my major has been accepted to 8 schools and is currently holding onto 7/8 and waiting to make a final decision

Is there a benefit to holding onto more than say 2 at a time (e.g. financial aid packages)? How many is enough and when are you holding too many spots which can be taken up by other people?

Asking because I was recently accepted into a school I really liked but didn't think I would get into and was waiting to hear back from 2 other schools on financial aid and possibly attend SL to make my decision. I know how it feels to be that kid waiting to hear back from a school you were waitlisted at and waiting for people to drop their acceptances and it ******* sucks

Also, obviously April 30 is coming up soon so the answer to this may be different at this point in the cycle rather than a couple months ago

It is all personal preference - some people are able to use them to leverage scholarships. If this isn't the case for you and you really are sure you have made a decision, you can let them go. As long as you don't hold more than one at a time after the 30th, you're fine.
