With Covid I think they are still giving you a small booklet of 4 sheets of paper, not the reusable grids. But I'm pretty sure you cant fold or hold papers or pencils up to the screen. The whole point is your ability to look at shapes/angles/patterns and manipulate them in your head (your perceptual ability if you will) not to recreate the actual folds and match your punched paper to the answer.

I used the answer choices to keep track of where the holes are. No writing or drawing at all as I felt they took too much time. My strategy just requires mental unfolding.

Basically, for the first unfolding, I see where the holes are and rapidly find the answer choice that seems most compatible. While continuing the unfolding, from a quick glance of all folds, I mentally note which holes are in their final positions as I unfold. I use this to lock-in certain answer choices as having the necessary hole positions. I continue to unfold and note if a given answer choice has the final-position holes in the right spots. If not, I find another answer choice that seems compatible.

Hello! Are we allowed to fold our sheet of paper for the hole punching section of the PAT?
You should call you testing center directly, sometimes they can vary. I have been told by students that they are NOT giving laminated sheets at this time but paper booklets with 4 sheets of paper and a pen. IMO that is a great thing because using the markers was challenging for various reasons. The Prometric testing centers do have very strict policies when taking the DAT and IMO I do no think they will allow you to fold the paper, etc. But be safe than sorry and call them, or better yet take the Prometric test drive and all those questions will be answered.

Hope that helps...Nancy, co/owner/ DAT Destroyer, Orgoman
