😕 As I'm writing holiday cards to people, I'm thinking would it be weird to send holiday cards to the admissions commitee? 😉

I'm speechless.

I agree....however, Ohio State has sent Halloween and Thanksgiving emails...and I'm pretty sure an Xmas one is in the near future...

they're just saying that because they're jealous that they didnt think of it first. you should only send them if they're handmade, though. that way you can show how multi-talented you are.

kidding, of course. don't send them.

seriously.

i am applying there and i dont remember ever receiving any notice from them until they just invited me to interview.

Is your name Aunt Ruth? I don't think they'd get passed around and its not the most appropriate thing to do. I'm sure someone in the office would go, "Aww, how cute" but others will rolls their eyes.

look, I'm a traditional thank-you-card kinda gal. but really, don't do this. save your cards and stamps for friends, relatives, and coworkers.

What about to interviewers at schools that you've already been accepted to? Some of my interviewers wrote me little notes (snail mail) giving me congrats, and I thought it might be nice to send them something back without it seeming like I'm trying to become their penpal or spiral into some neverending thank-you-for-your-thank-you-note-note.

at emory they spoke very mockingly about a few applicants who sent valentines in an attempt to be clever. they told us definitely not to do this. and this is coming from an admissions staff who put out a bowl of condoms for us interviewees...

I went to Walgreens to get some thank you cards to send to my interviewers, and saw the most hysterical thank you card ever. If I get an acceptance to Mayo I will send it (but not before then). They'll probably get a kick out of it. I hope. 😀 I know I'm being a little secretive here, but dang it, I want to be the first and only foolish accepted applicant to send this thing. I feel like The Brain in Pinky & The Brain.

The Brain: Are you pondering what I'm pondering, Pinky?
Pinky: Wha, I think so Brain, but - *snort* No, no, it's too stupid.
The Brain: We will disguise ourselves as a cow.
Pinky: Narf. That was it *exactly*.

Make a card yourself out of human leather and blood for ink. Inside the card, claim the materials came from your first cadaver, from which you saved the skin and blood for this very purpose. Wish them a happy holiday and mention that you hope to be able to make many more such cards in the future with the cadaver you're assigned as a student at their school. This will definitely get you noticed.

Seriously though, do not do that.

I'm trying to imagine our dean's face if someone sent her a card like that.

Wow...you must be a really good interviewer!I usually have to hunt around for my interviewer's email address. 😛

Haha, well I think it must be a standard practice for this school, since I got one from both of my interviewers there but never anywhere else. Also, after reading this thread today, I found a holiday card in the mail from the admissions office. 😍
