I only learned about what homeopaths do about a year ago and I couldn't believe my ears.

Back in the day though I can see how people thought it worked well because other treatments were dangerous - plus there's the placebo effect.

We actually had a lecture on alternative medicine in our clinical med class.

The prof sent this vid out the night before and everyone loved it!

Apparently, homeopathy operates under the principle that a ridiculously diluted pathogenic substance, when given to a patient, stimulates an immune response to that substance, thus allowing the patient to eliminate the pathogen efficiently. Therefore, you give them a tiny amt of whatever is causing them harm in order to cure them.

The funny thing is, one of my classmates did the math, and, if i remember correctly, in order to consume one mole of pathogenic substance, you would need to consume more water than would fit in the known universe.
