Have read this site for a long time, and just registered to hopefully get an idea of where I stand. I go to school in the south, and there is more than 1 state school for my state. My state school is my number one choice - would rather not reveal the state, however.

I postponed the MCAT for the longest time - because of fear, mostly. I didn't think with my statistics that I even had a shot, but a few friends and family members really pushed me to just take it. My final stats are below -

Overall GPA - 3.46
sGPA - 3.39

* Last 57 consecutive credits of college (34 of which where science) = 4.0.

MCAT - 31 R (11 BS, 11 PS, 9 VR)

800+ hours (will be 1,000+ by the time I apply in the spring) working in the ER taking patient HPIs alongside mid-levels and physicians.
500+ hours research in an immunology laboratory.
~55 volunteer hours in the ER

Few sports clubs.

If someone could give me an idea of where I stand, it would be appreciated.

You are asking for an advice to see where you are at for schools yet you do not want to identify your location. OK, fine, you are an OK applicant and have shots at some places, but your GPA will set you back a bit. Apply broadly and consider both MD and DO.

I'd also say you are an okay applicant, in general. Your GPA, while acceptable, isn't competitive. Your MCAT is also in the acceptable range. Your EC's are a little lacking, in my opinion. You have a bazillion hours of clinical work and research, but not much else. Most med schools want to see some nonclinical volunteer work, shadowing, leadership, and some teaching/Taing. So, your stats aren't terrible, but they aren't very competitive either.

Average stats for those entering DO med school are 3.48/26.19. Average for those accepted to MD schools is 3.67/31.1. So you're in good shape for DO schools, and have a fair chance at an MD acceptance: https://www.aamc.org/download/157450/data/table24-mcatgpagridall2008-10.pdf.pdf . If you have forgiving state MD schools, due to your steep upward grade trend, your chances are probably higher than the grid suggests. But if you apply without improving your ECs first, they'll be lower. I'd suggest some physician shadowing, nonmedical community service (ideally, helping the poor), teaching, leadership, and some more hobbies (something unique is helpful).
