Hello!

I wanted to know if it is possible to finish an honor thesis or most of it in one summer about 3 months?

How much of your data or background information / graphs can come from the post-docs or grad students your working with? I'm a little confused because the instructions are a little vague.

I hope someone can help me here and provide some advice, I would immensely appreciate your time!!!

Thank you so much!

I think it depends how involved it is and if it will require any bench/clinical research. Back in the day, mine didn't need any research outside of the library (that building with those book things that we used to use) and only took a couple weeks. But I know others who had really involved projects. Do you have someone who is mentoring you through it? Or do you know anyone in the same program or who graduated from the same program who might be able to answer what they did?

WOOT: ATTENDING PHYSICIAN! 🙂 omg you didn't have to respond to this thread 😀 Thank you very much for your time.

Yeah I have a friend who is doing an honor thesis in my department he spent 1.5 years on one. His project was in the Cell Biology field.

He told me doing two honor thesis in two different departments in about 1.5 years is impossible. So, I got a little disappointed. I love research!

I did not love research. 🙂 Awesome that you do. I believe mine was a review of the pharmaceutical options for weight loss that were available and their efficacy. It was nothing original, so it was just research and writing a long paper. So, doing something actually meaningful would take a lot longer, especially if you are relying on others and research. It all depends what the requirements you guys have...

Better question for your honors program. You need to know what constitutes an honors thesis. Many places it's just a big research paper. I was an engineering major, so it was a design project.

Yeah, I guess I have to play it by ear.

One of the honors thesis in my lab worked for two years and used the summer to solely write the honors thesis (while taking classes). So I think it's doable.

One of the requirements for the honors college I'm a part of is to write a thesis prior to graduation. For those students who are not inclined towards research, there are always other options. I also had a friend start a project beginning of spring semester, write it up by the end, and graduate on time. It wasn't a great project, but it was doable. It really does depend on your program, though. Plus, having a helpful and understanding mentor is a must. But if you have a good experimental design and are efficient with your time, I honestly don't see why you couldn't complete a decent project in one summer.
