Honors in OB/GYN?

Do PDs place much weight on getting "honors" in the OB/GYN clerkship, or is it just something that they expect from all OB/GYN applicants? Do programs screen on this?

I can't imagine that places put THAT much emphasis on one thing. Plus, some schools don't even have honors, so that would be a major problem.

Speaking from my experience, I "high pass"-ed OB, and got 24 interview offers, so those places don't seem to consider that to be a serious problem. I haven't had anyone question the HP either.

I'm planning to do ob/gyn (hence the username) but did not earn pass with honors in my ob/gyn rotation. Is this going to be a problem? It was my first rotation, if that makes a difference. I'm pretty shy and quiet at first, which I know had something to do with it. I've been working all year to come out of my shell but I'm suddenly worried that this could hold me back.

I've also gotten many interview offers despite not honoring ob/gyn. Do a couple sub-Is or electives and honor those, get good recommendations, and do well overall. One grade shouldn't make or break you, especially for a field as diverse as ob/gyn.

Thanks for your input! This might be a dumb question, but is there a difference between a sub-I and an elective? Do I request one or the other or is just asking to set up a rotation okay?
