I couldn't help but notice that the psychiatrist who killed at least 12 people at Fort Hood apparently just finished residency and had some rough evaluations from his psychiatry residency program at Walter Reed and apparently was harassed by superiors or colleagues. Anybody know if the training there is really tough or if it could have greatly contributed to his apparent mental health problems?

The guy seemed to be pretty educated as he also had an MPH . . .

He didn't just finish residency, did he?
And I agree residency can be bad, but it's not bad enough to make someone postal like that. He definitely had other issues.
And I hate to say it but psych attracts some people who have...well...psych issues. Not that all of them do, but there's definitely a subset of psych residents and attendings who are like that.
