Do they send you an email when you're complete? Does it take forever?

Yes, they sent me an e-mail when I was complete. It took a long time for them to record that they had received my LORs.

My letters were uploaded 8-24 and I haven't heard anything from them. That's been over a month! When should I think about calling them?

I'm in the same boat- so perhaps there is no use in calling. They must just be incredibly behind. If you do call, please post and let us know what happens.

I didn't feel it necessary to open a new thread for this issue, I hope the OP doesn't mind.

If you attend an undergrad school that also has a medical school and you complete a pre-med (or any other degree) program at that school does that increase your chances of getting into their medical school? (nice run-on sentence I know)

e.g., If I attend Hopkins for undergrad, does this lead to a slight increase in my chances of getting into Hopkins med. school?

Yup, I think med schools do tend to admit more of their own students. Or at least I have heard that Hopkins accepts more students from its undergrad compared to other undergrads.

I think they love their own. At my interview date they had 4 JHU seniors out of 8 interviewees. It is exactly a half... Maybe my interview day was an exception, but i got a feeling that they like their own alot.

That's interesting, because every person I've spoken to who has either attended JHU for undergrad or "researched" the school told me that JHU actually doesn't prefer their own undergrads and prefers to have students from other schools...I guess that's way off!!! LOL!

I have heard mixed things about this. Originally, I heard that a "fair amount" of Hopkins undergrads get in, but that, in the end, may only be 5-10 out of 150ish that apply (aka not a good percentage). Also, a neurology resident at Hopkins Hospital I've spoken with has said that, in his experience, Hopkins doesn't like to accept its undergrads all that much. Makes you wonder, huh?

There are 10 people in my class from Hopkins undergrad, a good number to be sure, but considering the number of people from the undergrad that apply/interview, it's a very small percentage.

Okay, update. I called the number listed on their website and got a message recorded 9-28. It said they would be suspending calling hours for the next two weeks while they went through applications. They swear they will send an email when you are complete or if you are missing anything, and they ask you not to call with status questions. They gave another number and an email address for other questions, but they warn that they may take a while getting back to you due to the volume of their applicant pool.

So I guess that means I have to sit tight.

I never got a "you're complete" email and then an interview invite appeared, so it sounds like those emails may not always go out.

I just had a thought- maybe they sent me the wrong email!? Is that possible. I sure hope not...
