Ok, so long story short, I had an science GPA of 3.33 (that is until this semester). I am in the first semester of my fifth year in undergrad and I have failed two classes and done mediocre in the other two bring my science GPA closer to an even 3.0.

I won't give excuses, I just shoveled an unrealistic load onto my plate. I can pull straight A's, as I have a track record of doing well, but this single semester is really bringing me down numerically. My overall GPA is just above a 3.5. I am a TN resident.

My plan is to continue for 3 semesters more to raise the science GPA to a 3.25. This is a really bad situation, but my goal is to go to dental school.

So, assuming everything else is stellar, will my GPA keep me from my goal, or what?

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. 🙂

I think you're fine. Don't fudge up again like tha 1 semester. Keep the loads lighter if you have to, but keep pumping out A's, because B is for betch. Just kidding. Good luck and keep your grades as high as you can.

One bad semester won't kill you. However, how bad was your heavy load? 18+ credit hours?

Thank you for your responses! 🙂

I am only taking 15 hours as well as doing research. I have never felt so worn down, and I started skipping class to make up for other ones, but in the end it made e situation worse as I had no idea what was going on in some classes. Now at the end of the semester it's too late to fix everything at once.

This is truly not indicative of my past performance. And I hope that going an additional year with straight A's can show that I am a serious student.

What classes were they? What other courses were you taking? Usually it's your last two years that are important with an upward trend viewed favorably and a downward trend viewed unfavorably. You certainly reduce your chances but I wouldn't say that you're hopeless as long as those classes weren't prereq's.
