As I have been on the interview trail I have noticed the art in various hospitals. In certain programs the resident guided tour will often include references to the artwork. Which hospitals have you been most impressed by?

Hahaha, most definitely least impressed by the hospital I volunteered with. The cafeteria has wall murals of freaky ass giant clowns. That's therapeutic.

I think the most impressive artwork I saw at the interview trail was definitely at the Mayo Clinic. They had beautiful Chihuly chandeliers and a separate "art tour" that I took during a break in the middle of the interview day where a designated guide led us around the hospital to see different art pieces!

The most impressive hospital I've seen in terms of aesthetics is Atlantic Regional Medical Center in South Jersey. I did my residency there. It's part of the UMDNJ-Camden program.

The hospital, at least while I was there, experienced high profitability and benefitted from a large upswing in the population of the local area. As a result the hospital was able to invest several million dollars into itself, and provide facilities that could provide individual patients with a room on the order of a high class hotel room with internet.

The hospital put in plenty of good artwork and other calming things such as waterfalls and large fishtanks with tropical fish in waiting areas.

The hospital added plenty of other pseudo-google like employee benefits such as free to cheap membership at the hospital's life center which was pretty much the best gym in south Jersey, a health account that allowed you to plug in your fitness center data into an account you could acess at the hospital.

The next best hospital that comes to mind was a hospital in north Jersey, forgot the name--(nuts).

Not to get too far off subject, but some of the best artwork I have seen in a hospital was by a young man who had bipolar disorder. He painted one of himself on an island, in the fetal position with a rain cloud only over the island and a cruise ship in the background (painted in realism not as cartoony as it6 sounds).

Granted, it was no Bierdstadt or Monet but the detail and relation to his morbid state through the painting were impressive.
