I recently transitioned into hospital pharmacist role, after years in retail.
Finding it hard to catch up on stuff. While there are guidelines and protocols in place .. can anyone suggest a good resource to go over IV preparations/ techniques/ dosing etc?
Would appreciate your inputs!

Gahart's 2019 Intravenous Medications on Amazon is gold for me. Short, succinct, and accurate.

If you need IV compatibility answers, you could use the Handbook on Injectible Drugs or an online resource like Trissells.

Download/print out your hospital's policies and protocols and read them. RXPrep is a great resource for quickly reviewing therapeutic areas you have trouble with. Depending if your pharmacists respond to codes, reviewing the ACLSs algorithms might be useful.

UpToDate, Lexicomp, or whatever your organization uses as an electronic reference. Keep it loaded up and double check every order until you feel confident. That might not be feasible if you just have the printed version.

Thanks everyone ! This really helps. Truly appreciated!
We have micromedix, Lexi , Clinical pharmacology.. I ll play around with them.

Can anyone provide tips on how to prep for an interviews for a hospital pharmacist position

I find BCPS exam materials helpful. GlobalRPH always comes in clutch as well. Also if you are looking to start from basic, RXPREP books for Naplex are handy.

I use global rph for the most part. It has most of the things I need.

I always forget how long you should do for vanco 1750. I just put 2.5 hours lol

Global RPh if there isn’t a protocol to tell you how to do it.

Otherwise, I would say just working a lot is the best strategy. The more you work, the more comfortable you will be with everything over time.
