I can add to this, except the hotel I stayed at was a bit more pricey (but the best deal for the closest location). I stayed at the Clarion Hotel Park Avenue, just google it. It's $200 a night, and is 0.93 miles/7 blocks away from NYU. There's a deli and some restaurants down the street, a pub next door, a starbucks next door, it's super quiet, free wireless internet, awesome staff, and I walked to my interview in 10 minutes. Great place to stay.

wow 46 bucks sounds like a deal...i just booked at hotel 17 which is .7 mile away for 107 bucks...but i think i'm going to cancel that and book at this hotel. thanks

the 45 bucks room thing....i don't think it's a good idea because it's a shared room. Strangers will show up to sleep with you...they might snore, they might pee down on you at night (bunk beds). The next morning you'll wake up sleepy and smell like pee for the interview. I'll spend 50 bucks more to get my room...just a thought
