Hey guys, I have my interview with Pittsburgh (go steelers!) on Feb20th. I'm looking for hotels and I was wondering if any of you would be able to recommend a good hotel under $60. I'm driving to Pittsburgh from Buffalo and this is the hotel that I'm looking at right now. It's not too far from the school is it? Is the morning traffic really bad?

Comfort Inn Banksvile Road

Did you get the e-mail from Rose Mangold? She details hotel options and gives codes for better rates. Most of these hotels offer shuttles to the school or are within walking distance. I stayed at the Wyndham Garden Hotel - University Place which cost around $90.00. There were cheaper options but I liked this one best. It’s located about three blocks from the school so I left my car there and walked up the hill to the school which made things stress free since I didn’t have to worry about parking or traffic. Also if you have time it’s located at the corner of Pitt’s campus so you can walk down to the cathedral of learning and have a look around. If you haven’t gotten the e-mail yet I’d call and ask. Maybe they don’t have your correct e-mail address since interview invites were also sent this way.

I did receive the E-mail, but do you think it's worth the extra 40 dollars? Also, where can you park if you end up driving to the interview?

Is it worth the $40? It depends on how much extra anxiety fighting traffic and finding parking the morning of your interview will create. That area can get backed up. Personally if $40 increases my chances of getting there on time or early, well rested, with no stress it’s worth it to me. But I am fortunate in that $40 was not going to break my bank

I stayed at the same place during my interview. It's less than 5 minutes from the dental school. It's definitely better than trying to drive into town looking for the school 2 hours before the interview starts. It's much less of a hassle.🙂

hey did you interview at UNLV and UCSF before getting your rejection? Or did you just straight up got a rejection from w/o interview? Thanks.

If you're worried about $ then just stay at the Comfort in on Banksville. All you do is take Banksville Rd toward Pittsburgh (Left on Banksville coming from the Comfort in Parking lot). Stay in the left lane until this road turns into 279 N where you'll merge left to go through the Fort Pitt Tunnels. You'll want to be in the right lane as you go through. After the tunnels, Bear right onto 376 East. Take the Oaland exit (~1/2 mi) should be 1st exit on right. This will put you onto Forbes Avenue (Pitt's campus). Get in the far left lane and after approx. 2 lights make a left onto Mckee Street (There is a Eureka Bank on the left corner). As you're going up the hill you'll make a right at the 2nd light. This is Terrace Street. Immediately the Dental school is on your left and the parking garage is on your right. This is less than 5 mi. but it will take you about 30-45 min depending on how good of a driver you are. Give yourself more time of course. It is not hard. But if it seems like too much then stay on campus. I live right off of Banksville and used to work in the dental school so i drove this every day. Good luck!
