I have an interview at CCOM and am looking to stay at a close-by hotel. I will have my own car so I don't need to worry about a shuttle. Any advice? Good experiences? Bad experiences? Info on discounts?

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Lombard for my interview in early October. You can call (630) 916-9000 to get the Midwestern rate for $59/night. I had a great experience there. The staff were very professional and friendly, the breakfast bar is quite extensive, and it's really close to a big shopping mall to either kill time or get last minute interview attire. CCOM recommends other places on their "Midwestern University Travel Guide", but I felt that this was the best choice for me and actually is cheapest of the Midwestern rates.

You may want to contact the school about you parking on campus with your car. I don't know the procedure of getting a visitor's pass (there's a security gate you'll have to enter). I'm sure it's no big deal, but might as well be sure there won't be any problem before you get there!

Congratulations on your interview invitation! I had a great experience there! Good luck!

i rented my own car and stayed at the red roof inn...i believe it was only 47 bucks and the good thing was, it was really close...just right down the street! there is no shuttle service, however.

scubadiva, oops i didn't get to visit you and kris =(

hope we can chill some other time though! =)

yes jonathan.....definitely...i'll be back in l.a. for x-mas break on the 21st for two weeks.

as for hotels......one of the closets places is Amerisuites/Lombard. They also have a shuttle. it's about 2 minutes away from school. that is where i stayed last year when i interviewed. the rooms are nice and it's right across from some really good restaurants. the room rate will probably be about $60-70/night.
