I just watch it to see if he hooks it up with Carmen.

I like the House theme song...can't beat "Massive Attack," not even with a stick!

Seriously.... 👍 👍

As for the study....i think its more money that's been wasted. It makes obvious sense that House wouldn't make it in the real world as a doctor at all. Hell, why would med schools make us take all the sensitivity classes and patient-doctor relationship classes if it wasn't warranted???? Dang study.

House is awesome!!

The show sucks too. Long live ER. 🙂

Wow, Tacrum, thanks for your insight. I would've NEVER guessed that people wouldn't want a manipulative, egocentric, pill-popping doc ordering them around.

Still, House is HILARIOUS (as is Scrubs), and they both rank waaaay ahead of that lame, faux-medical piece o' **** known as ER.

That catchy jingle would make a pretty solid ringtone [or beeper tone 🙂 ]

House is the best show on TV. He is absolutely hilarious. For example in the episode w/ the "model daughter" who had Testicular Feminizing Syndrome. House tells the father this diagnosis (after he had sex w/ his daughter/son) the guys says, "This has got to be a joke, right?"
House: "No. A joke would be if I called you a homo."

Everyone knows (or should) that it is not realistic. No hospital would ever allow the amount of tests he orders on pt's.

I also need to defend ER. It USED to be really good, but admittedly hasn't for years. If you don't believe me, catch some reruns at 1500 Central on WB.

I am with you, House is the ****. There isn't a medical show on t.v (except TLC, I guess) that is realistic. Realistic ain't that interesting. And just for the record, I wouldn't want a House for my PC doc, but if I had something nobody could fix and I was on the fast track to six feet under, you bet you @$$ I would put up with House. Who would rather be dead and love an acute care doc then be alive and hate the guy?

House is awsome because he can do things we WISH we could do when we're doctors and get away with it. Why is though that Foreman and House both went to Hopkins, and no one else's training is ever mentioned. What's the infatuation with Hopkisn?

Oh and Cameroon looks hot in her tailored whitecoat.

I agree with everything said here. thanks

ER is classic. Yes, it's not as good as it once was, but it still deserves respect IMHO.

And THANK YOU for your biting sarcasm. Wow. You sure put me in my place. :scared:

I agree. I saw an interview with real cops about the show "The Shield" and most real cops loved the show because the cops on the show did stuff you would never dream of doing in real life.

I'm a complete TV junkie - and I definitely watch all these shows (ER, House, Scrubs). I love House - of course its not realistic, that's what makes it so entertaining! ER is good filler, it's decent enough but definitely not what it used to be. I know there's a distinct possiblity I may get screamed at for saying this on SDN, but I *adore* Grey's Anatomy. YES, I know that attendings don't sleep with their interns, etc - but I think the writers do a fantastic job of making their characters relatable, and they also do a pretty amazing job of getting their medicine right (especially procedural protocol, if you've ever spent any time in and around ORs - you would never know that it wasn't real). Maybe it's just cause i want to go into surgery, but I think they do the perfect job of blending comedy and drama and create a show that's really freakin' entertaining 🙂

Grey is staggeringly unhot. And she has the voice of an 80 year old COPD sufferer with an oxygen mask in one hand and a marlboro light in the other.

Now a show called Izzy's Anatomy would command my full and undivided attention. Provided it actually had some relation to Izzy's anatomy, at least.

Perhaps House might not be very realistic but it is very entertaining and the cases are really interesting. I really enjoy the sarcastic comedy! :meanie: Can you imagine how boring a show would be that followed around a nice, polite doctor working in a hospital. Sounds like something PBS would do.

ER can be entertaining from time to time, and it was actually quite realistic in its first couple seasons, but seriously, that show jumped the shark a good long time ago.

"jumped the shark"? 😕

edit: Oh, that one Happy Days scene. Ha ha.

Some nurses at a hospital I volunteer were talking about a doctor that House reminded them of....so there u have it 🙂

I hate all those shows except Scrubs, GA can be okay, but for realism only Scrubs comes close. ER, please, they have more trauma and serious issues in a single day than we see in a week, and im at the busiest trauma center in the nation (data may be a couple years old). That show is just a big drama queen, boring.

House-just not realistic, sure there are jackasses in medicine, but the whole show is just off, they treat the cold like some mysterious process.

Grey's Anatomy-this one makes me the angriest (probably b/c i am a surgeon), this show is so unreal it kills me. The PGY-2 is a big shot (hello), you have neurosurgeons doing appys and CT surgeons scrubbing in on neuro cases, the residents all have time to sit together and watch surgeries (at the same time no less), they are on different services everyday, they make it seem like an intern/residents are just plain naive and dumb. Oh, and yes ppl screw around at the hospital, believe me the thoughts that get into your head when your on call will scare you when you get some sleep, LMAO.
Their procedural stuff isnt that great IMO, they take their masks on and off in the OR, touch their masks, and dont break scrub, cracks me up though.

Ok, aside from the total unreality of the show, i agree with your other statements about characters and stuff, can be interesting. My wife likes it so i watch.

Scrubs-funny, accurate, and does a good job of displaying the different specialties personalities, other aspects of real medicine etc....and they dont make the doctor the idiot who is so floored by how awesome (ie arent overly dramatic) it is to do what he does that he cant do it.

I shadowed a cardiothoracic surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic who wrote an episode of House. It was kind of random.

The show's alright. Scubs is far better though.

ER is a soap, House is a joke, and Scrubs is a comedy. None of these can depict the life of a doctor well. I guess if you're a drama queen, ER can get close. In the end, Scrubs DESTROYS the rest as with the following quote:

Janitor: You paged me in the middle of a very busy day. This had better be important.
Dr. Kelso: What were you doing?
Janitor: Sleeping in a mop closet.

I really like House, it's just fun to watch. I can' t believe you don't like what I like I'm going to argue with you about it now on the internet!

Obviously House isn't like a real doctor. He's a character on a television show, sorry to dissapoint those of you expecting a TV character to be genuine. It is fun to watch, though. ER sucks.

House is the ****. He's hilarious. He does stuff that we all wish we could do.

Grey's Anatomy is just one big orgy.

Scrubs is comedy too.

But, House is by far the best show on TV right now.

That was HILARIOUS and completely right on, Uvault05! ER is completely overrated. I can't even stand watching a second of it. It is completely out of sync with reality. And, yes, before someone says "Well, duh, it's a show" just consider how many people decided to go pre-med after watching that show believing in some way that the show was realistic.

House is a more complex and interesting character. And, to top it off, the show actually puts the medicine as the main focus as opposed to the other soap opera-esque drama crap that ER does. Summation: House rules!

That's the sad thing that people go premed after watching a tv show and that some people can't seem to distinguish between reality and fiction. I suppose that's why they have people shadowing REAL doctors these days, so that they will see real world medicine.

Like I said before, tv is overrated. I've never understood the fascination of sitting in front of the tv whole day and watching tv show after tv show. I'd rather do something else with my time then that, and never really turn on the tv.
