Hello everybody, I have to join upenn sdm in april. however, I would really appreciate some input regarding the housing options of current students at upenn.
1. within how many blocks of university is it safe to rent an apartment.
2. which are the safe suburbs for off-campus housing/rates per bedroom .
3. which is the closest bank / preffered bank

Thanks and I will appreciate any input.

nobody????????
🙁

I go to Penn for undergrad, and I haven't lived off campus, so I won't be much help for those questions. However, there are really two banks that are right near the University (within walking distance). There is a PNC on 40th and Walnut and a Commerce on 38th and Walnut. I personally have Commerce and have found the commercials to be true (super convenient)--they've been open any time I needed them. PNC isn't like that, though, and some of my friends have convenience issues (like them closing at 5 and not being open on Sundays). I don't know much about other services offered, since I have had only savings, checking, and CD accounts with them. Commerce has been fine on all of these services. They also have online banking, which is nice. There is also a branch near my permanent residence when I go home (again, convenience). So if you haven't realized, I'm really happy with Commerce!
