Has anybody here applied for dental HPSP while on active duty and received the scholarship? If yes, these are my questions. I appreciate your responses in advance!

Were you able to apply for GI Bill housing benefits since you'll be on a reserve status for the 4 years of dental school? Not even recruiters have been able to answer this question. I've contacted the VA and got different responses from different agents.

All I want to know is if I will be able to get BAH through GI Bill regardless of the HPSP stipend.

I think you’re eligible for BAH, if you’re prior service. That said, if you’re prior service, I’d look into the HSCP through the Navy. Might as well have the 4 years in dental school count towards retirement, and you’ll be paid as active duty during that time. This is what I’d recommend if you’re at a state school. Under the HSCP, you’re paid as active duty, and you’re expected to use that pay to pay for your tuition. However, as a prior service, you can use the GI Bill to cover the tuition.
