housing in NYC? Help Plz!

Hi all,

I just got into NYU dental, and really need some leads with where to live semi affordable in NYC. I realize that I have to share an apartment, and this is fine with me. Does anyone know which area is cheeper, or where to look for roommates and apartments? please help, since I am moving there early August.

I have a lot of friends that did craig's list for roomamates...

ABC city and Sty town are not too far from NYU......
If you stray west and north the prices go up as you are heading towards union square and murray hill.

So, look for walkup, without doorman, east of NYU, rent stabilized is helpful.
