I was wondering if anyone here went to San Antonio Dental, and if you could list a few good, safe, fairly close apts to the school (750 or less for 2 bedroom) and about 10 min away or less. i am clueless about what i am going to do with housing!
Anyone know anything about Arbor Pointe or San Antonio Station- these are the only suggestions I have gotten. Thank you!!!

i went over to the housing department at the school, and they said that if you contact them, they can give you listings for people in the hsc looking for roommates, or with rooms available. other than that, they gave me a big fat forrent.com catalog, which of course, has a website to check out with lots of places around the medical center or nearby.

Walnut Hill Apartments is pretty close. its about a 2 minute drive from the dental school. i'm paying $543 for a 2 bed/1 bath. i think 2 bed/2 bath is around 600ish. The apartment complex is on babcock rd and medical.

SUGAR HILL APTS! They're just down the rd from Medical Dr. by I-10. drive would be about 10 min every morning with traffic, and about 5 any other time. I've been living here for 2 yrs now, and I'll never switch apts unless I have to. 980 sq ft loft, 1 bedroom, 1.5 bathrooms, 2 huge balconies, pets, pool, discount at the gym across the street and a great location: I pay 620 right now. I looked around for months before I found anything this good... definiately take note, cause it's often not in the apt locator books, and the place is reletively small. If you look too close to the school (ie: Carlyle Place) you'll pay too much. Sugar Hill has really good deals on 2 bedrooms also. In addition, SA has really cheap real-estate, so if you're looking into buying or renting a house, you may get a better deal than settling down in an apt. Good luck. Contact me if you need some more info. I can call some friends around the medical area and find out what they're paying and what they're getting.

Thanks guys- keep them coming! this housing thing is stressful! Has anyone heard of arbor pointe?

There is a new aprtament complex opening up called Braodstone Colonnade. The complex is the nicest I've seen in the area and they have great move in specials. A good number of current medical students are moving out there next year icluding myself, so I thought I'd let you guys know about it. If you end up checking it out, tell them Neil from the medical school sent you. She'll hook you up with 4 weeks free prorated over a 12 month lease. If you end up filling out an application, put my namedown, Neil Shah in the referral section. I get a little kick back once you have lived there for a month... once I find out that you put me down as a referral, I'll slip a $50 check into your school mailbox. The complex is really worth checking out... they have a nice gym with multiple treadmills with individual LCD TVs and a indoor basketball court. They have a really nice sports lounge with a kitchen, a huge plasma TV, a nice pool with outdoor TVs, a outdoor poolside fireplace, a a lot of BBQ grills by the pool. The floor plans are big and the interiors are really modern(wooden floors, lofted ceilings, nice views). There information is as follows:

1bd/1bth 568sq ft $577
1bd/1bth 664sq ft $655
1bd/1bth 707sq ft $687
1bd/1bth 858sq ft $779

2bd/2bth 997sq ft $926
2bd/2bth 1099sq ft $995
2bd/2bth 1146sq ft $1045

3bd/3bth 1311sq ft $1350

The typical rent for a 1bd/1bth in the area is $475 to $900 depending on the quality. This complex is the nicest I've seen in the area and not nearly as expensive as the rest of the nicer places. That's why a bunch of med/dent students are moving there next year.

Shoot me an email if you end up signing a lease and putting me down as a referral at [email protected]
I'll confirm it with Melissa and then once you've lived there for a month I'll hook you up with your $50.

Great rates... and if you're looking for RMs, this guy has a three bdrm with at least 1400 sq ft. I finnaly found a place that makes me considder giving up this one at sugar hill. Good luck.
