there are many dormitories/condominiums near UST. u have to inquire personally how much is the rental fee, their policies (if they have curfews, allow guests in rooms, etc) coz it varies.

condo's i recommend (in my opinion) are the castle, sacred heart along dos castillas (near flower market or "dangwa"), san luis mansion. there's this new building called forbes tower but haven't been there yet. a new buidling is still under construction - burgundy forbes (counterpart of burgundy one along katipunan and at taft ave) but i don't know when it will be opened.

i know there are other good condos but i suddenly forgot their names. sorry. i'm "from duty" now. it's hard to think straight when u didn't get to sleep within the past 36 hrs.

Forbes Tower is the place at the corner of Dapitan and Lacson, right? That place is brand new, I think they just started housing people this school year.

Anyway, there's lots of housing available right outside the gates of UST, and there's one dorm one campus, but that dorm is actually a farther walk to the med building than most of the places outside of campus.

The Castle (on Dos Castillas) is pretty hard to get into (there's already a list of names for people who want to live there next year), but it's one of the better places around here, minus the fact that there's no elevator. There's Pacific Sun, which is pretty new I think. There's also the Galleria on P. Noval, which is nice...hmm, I can't really think of any other places right now.

All of those places are less than a 10 minute walk to the med building, and if you have any more questions, lemme know. 🙂

Hope to see you around UST next year!

Hey, I've reserved a place at the Castle...can you tell me any more information on this building (or where I can find something online?...i've been searching around but end up with nothing).

There are lots of options around UST... DON'T just 'jump' at your first option...bargain with the place(s). You ought to know that its quite common for places to charge a 'foreigner' (read: FilAm) several thousands of pesos more per month than they would a pinoy local! So DO BARGAIN!

Ask to see how much utilities will cost per month...some buildings with more than 5 floors were charging outrageous rates (like P1000 per month) for water!!! (When it should be like 200-300 pesos.)

The "Castle" as its called is where a lot of FilAms and foreign students live. There will be vacancies there this year for sure...you'll have to ask around...😴

The Castle is a street away from the corner of UST, specifically on the side of the old hospital. What's good is that a 5-minute walk would lead you to the entrance already nearest the Med Bldg, present your ID and just enter the hospital then there's a hallway leading to the Med Bldg.

Most of the rooms, have two areas: the bedroom and the kitchen/living room. Upon entering the door, the door for the toilet and bath shall be on either left or right, then about 5 steps further adjacent to the bathroom wall will be the kitchen sink, some cabinets, and an area for like a medium ref. The two areas are separated by something like a bookcase and a door leading to the bedroom. At the back of that bookcase is the wardrobe cabinet. Windows would be parallel the bookcase/cabinet on the other side of the bedroom. I'll try to find pics if I can.

If you could still suggest, try to choose the rooms on the 1st to 3rd floors, so you won't be much hassled by going up and down the stairs. Also, the top floor sometimes becomes a bit too warm it shall require you to always turn your aircon on so the higher your electric bill will be. Of what I know, water is just about 100-200 per month payable by the end of the year.
