i have been reading different threads but still can not find any similar case.

non-citizen, bio major at collage, came to States after getting a Ph.D degree in Pharmacology 4 years ago. Been working as a research fellow in a good public university and have several peer-reviewed publications. 50 hour+ dental shadowing and lots of community services.

I am still at the stage of preparing for my DAT test. I had a 3.57 total GPA/ 3.46 Sci in collage, 98/100 at grad school.

How are my chances?

I checked with several Dental Schools, some of them won't count the courses taken out of the States, Temple for example Will the dental schools in the States review my international transcripts?

I am still new to this field so please give me your advice. There are a lot of uncertainty in my life right now but one thing I am so sure about is that I am going to fight for my admission.

First of all, are you a permanent resident (i.e. Green Card holder) or at least a Canadian Citizen? Majority of schools dose not accept international students.

Second, AADSAS doesn't include work at international universities in GPA calculation (from what I understood all of your courses were taken at an international college) so this would be a huge problem.

My advice to you is get your green card first if you don't already have one, then take the basic dental required courses at a U.S institute, and you'll have a solid application

come back after you take your dat

I think having a Ph.D in pharmacology is a huge plus. I don't think you have any problem acing the chem and bio section on the DAT, you should practice your reading skill and PAT though. I'm also a foreign student who is still on a visa; however, I finished my undergrad in the States hence I am not sure about your transcript situation. You should buy the electronic version of the ADEA guide ($10) at the adea website (look under bookstore/publication), look through it and see what schools accept international students ( I know a lot them will if you are competitive), then call them. This may sound like a repetitive task but if you really want it then you have to work for it. There are companies that offer certified evaluate transcript service (google it). Again, call the school and ask if it would be ok. If you want to apply this cycle then you should take the DAT and work on your application asap, if not then just apply next year. Gook luck!

Are you Canadian? If you are, then you're golden. Your PhD will shine like the sun among the other applicants.

If not, you might want to do some research. International applicants (not Canadian) have had a harder time in the past to get their coursework accredited.
