For context I’m currently in my second year of a kinesiology degree. I want to switch my major to psychology because I find it significantly more interesting as well as engaging but also there are less courses I would have to complete. I’m just wondering if switching my major would have any effect on when I plan to apply to dental schools.

Welcome to the forums.

Nope. We look for prereqs and upper-level biomedical sciences in general, not your major. You don't get bonus points for double majors or adding a minor.
Okay thank you for letting me know!! When I make the switch I would be able to take more upper-year science courses and that was huge factor.
