If you have strong feelings on the ethics of AI, Columbia Bioethics Program is sponsoring an essay contest on the topic (posting =/= endorsement):
Have something to say about ethical issues in Artificial Intelligence?
Submit an original, 1,500-word opinion-editorial focusing on a current AI and ethics issue of your choice.
Guidelines:
1) Only students who are currently enrolled undergraduates in an accredited college or university, or students who received their bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 are eligible to participate.
2) Essays should make an op-ed style argument on a topic in bioethics, and should not be more than 1,500 words in length.
3) Your submission must be original work, and no part of the essay may be written by generative AI. All sources used must be cited according to one of the accepted formats (e.g. APA, AMA, Chicago, etc.)
4) All submissions must be in the form of a Microsoft Word document. Essays that are submitted as PDF documents will not be reviewed.
