Hey guys, i am a Canadian student trying to get into US dent schools. How are my school choices? I did some research and these are the schools i have chosen.

Are any of these an obvious write off and are there any that you would recommend i add?

Baylor College of Dentistry (BAY)
Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BU)
Case School of Dental Medicine (CWR)
Howard University (HOW)
Marquette University (MQT)
Nova Southeastern University (NSU)
Tufts University (TUF)
University at Buffalo (BUF)
University of Detroit Mercy (UDM)
University of Florida (FLA)
University of Kentucky (UK)
University of Louisville (UL)
University of Michigan (MICH)
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC)
University of Pittsburgh (PITT)
University of Southern California (USC)
University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (HOUS)
University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (SAN)
University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry (UOP)
Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)
West Virginia University (WVA)

Thanks

What about UoP?

What about UoP?

I'm assuming that is Dugoni? It's 3rd from the bottom on my list.

I'm just curious. Are you applying to Canadian schools? I know they're disgustingly competitive. I mean hell, I have 3.7 and I'm not even gonna bother to apply. I'm a Quebec resident, though, so McGill is sort of calling out to me. If so, have you taken the Canadian DAT as well as the US DAT? As I understand it, if you did not do well on the Canadian DAT, you are not obligated in any way shape or form to report your scores to any US dental schools OR self-report them on the AADSAS primary application. The way I see it, you can take the Canadian DAT, and if you rock the hell out of it, good for you. You can send it to all the schools in the US. If not, then take the US DATs and that's all that will appear on your AADSAS application. I'm just curious if you have given any thought to this. Thank you.

I have 3.7GPA as well and got rejected from all Canadian schools when i applied last year. I suggest you try the schools in Quebec since they might make an exception to French speaking students (just a guess).

Last year i took both the Canadian DAT and US DAT. I did much better on my Canadian DAT 18-20s across the board.

I got two 16s on the US DAT since it was my first DAT i ever did and ran "out of gas" toward the end.

My plan is to only submit my Canadian DAT scores to AADSAS initially then retake the US DAT and post the new marks so that i do not get passed up during initail evaluations.

Does anyone know if i am obligated to post my previous US DAT marks? With 2 16s it is pretty pointless and i think i would have a better chance with the Canadian DAT marks.

Thanks.

Anyone have any advice for eliminating some schools, seems like 20 is a lot of schools.

if you're canadian, 20 schools isn't necessarily too many. there are spots for non-residents but it's competitive. so that's an ok number.

Find the thread where is lists all the schools which accept cDAT and how many canadian students they accept. No point applying to schools who accept 0-1 canadians if you are trying to cut down on your list.

Do you mean this thread?

I used that thread for my choices. I am assuming that if a school is accepting international students then they are accepting Canadians as well.
