Sorry I am new here and saw many posts like this and wanted to get feedback.. AADSAS calculated my gpas as:

Cum:3.28
Other Sci:3.53
BCP:3.14
Non Sci:3.3

I got a low BCP bc I only got b's to b+'s in first and half of second year. However, I have gotten a gpa of 3.7 in the last 3 semesters, compared to the 1st 3 where I got 3.1.

My dat is 19/18...

I volunteer 4 hrs per week for a total of over 200+ so far, shadowed 50+ hours so far, and work 7-15 hrs per week, and am involved in 2 intramural teams through college.

Thank you guys.

If you apply early, you will get in somewhere.

If you apply late, you may need some luck to gain an acceptance.

Its getting competitive as hell, so the timing of the application is critical.

Your stats are average - not bad but not stellar as well. Your goal should be to wow 'em in the interview. If you get your application out early your chances will be rather good.

Your stats are comparable (actually better) to mine. I too am nervous about how my gpa compares to that of other students here on SDN. From the advice I've recieved, I can tell you not to really worry about your gpa (it's fine), you've got fairly strong DAT scores, so the way I see it, apply early and your good to go!

I think Sprgrover summed it up best: Wow 'em in the interview.

camaltoe - your signature reminded me of an article I found for a research project: http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/DyeHard/story?id=402969&page=1

thanks everyone

3.7 in last 3 semesters is a good upper trend, as I think adcoms will look favourably in that direction. Am I correct ppl?

Hey does the "other science gpa" include your bcp classes? Or are they strictly other science classes that are not considered bcp?

I believe for the cycle last year, only 4 GPA's were calculated, non-science, science, BCP, and overall. I know that last year, the BCP was just a specific part of the science GPA. So the science GPA was inclusive of the BCP gpa as well as math courses and other 'kind-a-science like' courses, like nutrition.

This year, however, I've read a few posts that notes that AADSAS have calculated more than 4 GPA's. I'm not quite sure what the implications are of this, but I know what kind of effect more GPA's can have:

More GPA calculations gives more insight into a students abilities and where he/she is excelling or reveal weaknesses, such as a poor 'math' GPA (only science - sounds wierd, as math is not science but could be under this category), as oppose to a strong BCP GPA, which can be more favourable (and I think more important than any other GPA).

All in all, I wouldn't worry about it too much. What happens, will happen - there is nothing you can do about it. But hopefully the new format of GPA's that will be calculated will be beneficial in the long run.

I don't know if I answered your question, hopefully I did 😳
