Have you networked with HDA or HSDA chapter officers at the schools on your list (except Lyon which is a new school)? My big concern is the low community service/volunteering hours. You also should do a bit more with clinical/dental experience than just shadowing (ideally). Mission fit also would be good to figure out.

Thank you so much! This is great feedback. Yes, I am also aware of the low volunteer hour count. This is an ongoing experience for me. I visit this place every week to help out with sorting and distribution. It makes me feel like i am making a difference. Hopefully I’ll have enough hours by the time I interview. I hope that may be combined with consistency and depth of my involvement they’ll look at it in a good way.

how did you come up with this list?

Do you mean the school list? If so, by research. All schools have their pros and cons but I was particularly interested in at least one aspect of each of those schools. I am also aware that my gpa is not the most competitive out there so I decided to apply broadly to schools I believed I had a good shot. I am also aware if my non-traditional background. As an immigrant, I decided to prioritize schools with extensive support for underserved communities like the one I come from.
Please all of you feel free to post more feedback. I really appreciate it!

sorry, but starting volunteering in the summer before you apply is not "consistency"...

did you check which schools have HSDA chapters/historically accept Hispanics?

Thanks for the feedback! I wish I had entered this forum earlier.
I have not checked which schools have HSDA or which ones have historically accepted Hispanics. I did not think that my Hispanic background would be an issue.
I am a non-traditional student who works full-time, and juggling school, work, and personal life has taught me a great deal. Even with those challenges, finding time every week to prioritize community service has become a humbling experience I'd very much love to integrate into my life, whether or not I receive an acceptance.

Once again, I appreciate the feedback!

your background is not an "issue"
it's just that some schools may have more support than others
although i'd bet that all schools now have tons of resources for minority communities...

As a non-traditional student, I don't know if you have discussed these options with members of your family. I find the spread of schools curious. Granted, you don't have a lot of great options in neighboring schools to Florida, but I don't know if/why you want to live in Little Rock (Lyon) or Omaha (Creighton). Does Roseman have the support for communities similar to yours; and can you handle a three-year curriculum?

The most important factor for your success (I argue) will be the clinical operations for D3/D4. What do you know about each school's support to bring enough patients to help you and your peers graduate?
