Okay, if I took general chem I and got a 'C', repeated it and got an 'A', will AMCAS count it as one class with a 'B' average? Or will they count each grade individually? Thanks!!!

I think they count each grade individually. I retook a biochem class and i believe both grades were counted separately.

They will count it as ONE class with a B average.

Example

4 unit class in which you got a C is retaken and you get an A, you end up with 4 B units - NOT EIGHT as some people have mistakenly been led to believe.

Of course, this only works if it is the exact same class/course number/university.

If you look at your AMCAS total units, it should match up with your school transcript units. The only way this can happen is if they average the grades rather than count the two separately.

What if it is general chemistry I, but at different schools. Will it still count as one class??? Thanks...

In that case I believe it will be counted as two separate classes. You will have two transcripts from two schools AMCAS total GPA units will be the combination of both transcripts. Again, your GPA units on AMCAS have to equal all of the ones on your transcripts.

Damn it! Oh well. I guess that brings my BCPM down a little. Thanks for the clarification.
