How are you interviews going?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Not sure anyone on here can actually help you. Such a personal decision. Some people like myself would drop Cook, Orlando, USF, Loma, etc simply on location alone. With that said, I did hear that UTSW was like Emory but much better. Vandy's interview made me not want to go there, which is a shame b/c it was in my top 3 pre-interview and is now outside the top 10. Christiana I heard was a good interview. Carolina is supposed to be a good place and interview.

GL!

Lanolin - really? No love for Orlando?

Warning: Post may come off as Douchey (trust me, that is not my intent).

Ok so far, I have finished the following

1. Cinci
2. Hennepin
3. Maricopa
4. UCLA/Harbor
5. Highland (Alameda)
6. Indy
7. UoA Tuscon
8. UNM
9. Texas Tech (Elpaso)

********

I still have the following scheduled but I am starting to get burnt out. I don't want to go on more than 12, so which of the following would you go on if you were in my shoes and which would you pass up. I ask so I can cancel them early and so that someone more deserving can get the spot.

So far, I have enjoyed the Academic-County Hybrids the most, but mostly I am looking for a program that the residents get to do all ER procedures in it (Hennepin fit this bill as they get first crack on everything).

Choices are as follows:

1. Carolinas
2. Pitt (UPMC)
3. Vandy
4. Christiana
5. Parkland (UTSW)
6. Cook County (chicago)
7. USF tampa
8. Orlando Health
9. Loma Linda

Thanks guys, and my apologies for the Douchey post, it was honestly not my intent. I just need to cancel some of these quick so others can get a crack at them.

Hey, I'll take your Carolina's interview! I interviewed at UTSW and Orlando and thought they were both great.

If you are looking for an academic-county hybrid program, Christiana really fits that bill.I rotated there and they have a huge catchment area. There would be about 8 trauma alerts a shift (from MVAs on I95, pedestrian struck in Newark DE, stabbing transferred from Wilmington, pediatric trauma, etc).

Just wondering, what is the best answer to "So where else are you interviewing?" On the one hand, stating many locations makes one look more desirable, on the other hand, too few could mean non-competitive. I find it too be very intrusive.

Yeah, good question. I usually list the region and/or states that I am interviewing at multiple programs in.... However I did feel that one time I did this I was negatively discriminated against by not listing other "top tier" programs that perhaps I should have mentioned..... But to be honest, the more I get into this process the more I realize how much I can't stand the places that have the "top tier" persona...... I just don't take myself that seriously, and likely won't rank a program very highly that does to be honest.

You really think they're memorizing what you say, then going back to the recruitment meeting with a powerpoint delineating where else you're interviewing and adjusting their rank list accordingly? They're asking you this most likely because they're like 90% of doctors: social ******s that have no creativity and don't know what else to ask. You will be ranked by your numbers and personality. The percentage of each is dependent on the program. Period the end.
