Yeah, I'm glad to be done with that crap. Environmental chemistry has assumed the honourable title of "class that currently makes me most miserable" instead.

I got all of my mid-terms back. I was pleasantly surprised with my physiology grade (4.0 on mid-term) and shock-and-awed from my organic II exam (55%) I'll be dropping organic.
 
Gen Ed's are fine
Physics II is freaking awesome--best class ever!
And Organic II is ruining my life...yay:meanie:
 
Biochem and Molecular Biology are keeping me busy enough to not completely obsess about interviews and whatnot and by that I also mean make me want to paint the walls with my brains...
 
They are all going well, Ill see how i do on this Quant. Analysis test on wed
 
I got a 96 on my first chem exam...yeaaa. Bio's exam grades will be coming soon. In hist, I got a 92. However in Trig, I made a lousy 83 😡. No worries though...I'll just study harder next time.
 
I agree that Pchem can suck it. I did well on my last biochem test (2nd highest in the class) but i study for that like you wouldn't believe. We'll see if the test on wed will rape me like i expect it to.

I'll take Ochem and physics any day over Pchem. Seriously

Fine. Just Fine. I'm working hard, but they're going better than I'd expected them to. When I signed up, I thought that I may have been attempting too many hours. I was prepared to drop one, if necessary. Turns out that the ones I had expected to be the most tough - sciences, math, and computer programming, couldn't be going better. They're not easy, but they are going well. Foreign lang. has been just as expected.

The kicker has been the class I'd expected to be the easiest and ENJOYABLE - English. I am just, by the skin of my teeth, maintaining an "A" in there. It's the one class in which I will never be certain of my grade until it is posted at the end of the semester.😱 What should have been an interesting and thought stimulating class is dry and boring. I'm so tired of hearing that freshmen are incapable of "A" level writing. I've thought of dropping it & retaking from a more interesting prof, but then I realized two things. First, that the grade I receive in this class has no bearing on my writing ability. Whether it is higher or lower, my writing is the same, even though I feel that the papers I produce are more interesting when they are written for a professor who appreciates individual opinions and encourages personal style. Literature would be pretty darn boring if all authors were to write with the same style, same voice.

The second, more important, realization was that I will have wracked up so many credits by the time that I'm graduated that, for each letter grade I could lose in this English class, my final GPA will drop by less than 1/100th of a point. I'd have to get below a "C" for the GPA to drop below 3.99, if everything else were perfect, which certainly won't be the case. Now that I realize that no individual class evaluation is going to make or break me, no single grade seems as important. What matters is what I actually learn - and I'm learning plenty. So, the answer to your question is that I'm doing fine.

What about you? You asked the question; you owe an answer in return.
 
I am taking only 4 humanities courses, am finished my bio degree and this semester is rough nonetheless because I have severe senoritis. And eating, sleeping and breathing admissions chances is not helping the situation :scared:

Case and point: why am I on here when I should be doing some reading?
 
I hate Process Controls and Simulation. Modeling chemical reactors and systems is not fun... at all. Basically consists of you building a program in Excel to like the BA column and realizing it doesn't work at the end 😡
 
Physics is going better than i thought.

Ochem im very behind in (im on pg 15 and did 0 problems while we're supposed to be at pg 60 with over 30 problems completed).

Sign language is such an amazing class =]. i only joined because it fulfilled a "cultural diversity requirement" needed to graduate but it turned out to be one of the best classes I have taken thus far. Its far more challenging than expected because my teacher is deaf/mute so since day 1 (when we didnt even know the alphabet) we had to just observe signs and facial expressions to learn. Only a week in, i know the alphabet (VERY easy), tons of phrases, all types of questions, can do this all with a fast speed, etc.
 
so far, so good. my gen bio and inorg 1 are a piece of cake, since I've had upper level bios and inorg two already (just took the wrong section for I). micro is the most fun ever n I have ten pt higher avg than anyone else in the class, physics sucks but my grades are fine (bordrrline A+ to A) and Grad school is a breeze.
 
Going very very well here...

I've gotten 100 on my first Orgo I exam, 100 on my first Physics I exam, 96 on Cell Bio, 90 on Genetics (and my quiz grades are almost perfect), and an A on my first Animal Physiology exam. I have to say, it's certainly time consuming but it's paying off. My physics homework grades (MasteringPhysics online, if any of you also use it for your classes) are around 99%. All in all, I'm pleased with my performance so far.
 
I had to drop chemistry -- which isn't offered at a convenient enough time next semester. Teacher was a nazi, and I failed the midterm.
Arabic is going much better than the first week of class, where I almost dropped it. First exam in two days -- we'll see.
Government finance is a huge workload, but I'm learning a lot.
Stats is easy as all hell.

Now I'm at 9 credits for the semester, had to drop GChem, and I'm a junior. How the hell am I going to possibly get the entire inorganic + organic + physics sequence done? Yikes.
 
biology i enjoy, but my professor doesn't speak English, doesn't provide any notes, and the exams are based on lecture (no book).

chemistry is going well thus far. no exams yet though.

history blows- my teacher talks 0.0000002 miles per hour while drinking and coughing every 5 seconds and it is a 2 hour class. we also have quizzes every single day on a random sample of 5 (from a total of 50) vocab words from the previous reading... we have to write a paragraph on each. so time consuming for a gen ed class.

calc II also blows. i haven't had math in 3 years and i never understood calc I when i did take it. despite spending hours on homework, going to the help lab, and hiring a private tutor, the future is looking very very bad.
 
classes are going average like they always do. I wish I could bust out of the B/B+ range for once.
 
Anthropology- 90 on quiz... I have a another quiz this wednesday along with
a replacement quiz project due...which I dont need.... but eh and I'm working on a project right now due the 19th.
English- I hate, I hate I have a 92, I am struggling to keep an A
Chemisty- 105.72 on midterm highest grade at all my professor sections, which is great but it is time to move on.. another exam in three weeks.
Trig- 84 on midterm 92 with curve, A on all the quizzes.....I hope she gave the curve for the exam.

I'm hoping to apply to the honors college and get a research position this spring if all goes well..

But we have a couple more months...just a couple more months intill winter session classes.

....It is a uphill battle I need a break but gotta keep moving.. good luck to all this semseter.

I find it hard to believe that he doesn't speak English... unless you are taking this class at a foreign university. Otherwise man, thats some crazy expectations for you to learn a foreign language AND biology at the same time.

Eh, decent. My 2nd biochem prof (of 3) started this week, and she seems a lot better than the first, so that's good. I'm finally caught up in my reading, but I think I'll be behind after today, since I'm burnt out from reading all weekend lol. I have a microbio lab exam tomorrow, but that shouldn't be too awful. All in all, I'll give this semester a 6/10 so far.
 
getting destroyed in biochem
physics is ok, but it's getting really hard- WILL get destroyed in physics...🙁

He speaks English, but not fluently. He messes up a fair amount of words and his accent is extremely thick. I can understand him a little bit if I talk to him one on one, but in a 500 person lecture with a massive speaker system, it compounds the problems.

Bio : quiz 1 100%, quiz 2 92%, test 1 94%
bio lab average 90.3%
Chem test 1 71%, test 2 get back Thursday probably a "B" or a high "C"
chem lab average 93%
English test 1 91%, test 2 93%, test 3 get it back tomorrow along with first paper.


So I guess I am doing ok, not that hot though.

Well with acceptances in all it seems us other premed have been forgotten and rightfully so. But I still wonder if everbody is still doing well and if those of us who were not got a turn around. For Me-

Wow this thread is crazy... no wonder the pre-meds on SDN have such a bad name, posting a breakdown of grades on a public forum? Come on now.

I don't know what happened, but I got a 100% on the first assignment. The midterm's on the 3rd, though, and that's really gonna separate the men from the boys.:scared:

I should find out my orgo grade for the first assignment today. :barf:
 
ochem lab: not too bad
physics: easy
biochem: :scared: holy **** this class is murdering me. I hate memorizing🙁
 
GChem: B- which i can raise if i stop being such a slacker

Bio: A top student in the class
Bio Lab: A (ditto above)
Spanish: A (ditto)
English: A thanks to massive amounts of EC on the midterm
PreCalc: A and it should stay that way provided i do my homework
 
Had to drop biology 1 due to the massive amount of time gen chem 2 is consuming.

Gen Chem 2: Last exam, 94%, last quiz 92%, last lab 100%
Calc 1: Last exam, 86%, last quiz, teacher's too lazy to grade so I have no idea but probably failed it and probably failed the quiz today

Oh how I love calculus. I love it so much that I just feel like stabbing my teacher, since the narcissistic B loves giving us ridiculously hard problems, mocking us for "not understanding such a simple problem" and then marking 6 out of 10 points off on problems for minor mistakes. 👎
 
Urgh, why did I ever take A&P? The exams are all MC and not TOO difficult, but the amount of information is astonishing.

On the good side, was talking to a friend who's an M1 and he said it was a good idea, because those who took undergraduate A&P generally have a somewhat easier time in anatomy in med. Too bad we don't have labs, but at least learning the theory is something.
 
I have a pchem exam coming up. I had a trainwreck on the first exam. This exam is historically the worst. I have microbiology three days after the exam. After microbiology I have biochem in 4 days. I'm flipping out. GPA upward trend out the window.
 
I aced my first chem exam, but I just took the midterm and didn't do nearly as well. I still got an okay grade, but I have some poor lab and quiz grades so I was looking forward to high exam grades to balance it all out.

I failed my first test ever in physics last week. I like the material, and the professor is great, it is just very hard. The class average was about 35% though, so I don't feel too bad.

Calc exam tomorrow. Got a B+ on the last one without studying, so hopefully I can do the same thing this time 👍
 
Doing well except in Statistics. The professor is terrible. However, instead of studying more for the tests I usually just refer back to my hatred of him. It's pretty productive.
 
Classes are pretty good
Physics w/ Lab- 100 (2 exams and 6 labs- but he caps grades at 100 or it would be higher)
Communications- 106 (got bonus points on the first exam and perfect on all hw and presentations)
Orgo 2- 88.5- there end lies the problem (88 first test, 86 second test, 100 all hw, 100 two quizes, 90 one quiz)
Research- amazing just finishing and presenting in Washington DC at the National Holocaust Museum next month (its on the holocaust and history)
I was also taking microbiology but I dropped it when i was diagnosed with a chronic disease in September and have been too tired to keep up with all the studying... and I was already 14 hours ahead of the graduation track.

So overall Classes 👍 health 👎

Goddamn man, you're taking p-chem and biochem in the same semester? That must be a lot of work.

Two weeks ago I had 3 exams in one week, one on Mon, one on Wed, one on Fri... Animal Physiology, Genetics, and Physics. That was a rough week for me.

Better. My grades are still in the same range they were a couple of weeks ago. I expect to continue to walk that razor between A & B in English until I put the last period on my final exam. In Spanish, I do very well in everything EXCEPT when he plays stories on audiotapes for tests. I can understand people just fine, but have difficulty listening to the person on that tape. That's only a portion of each test, but could make a difference.

What's better is my attitude. I've decided two things. The most important is that I don't care what my grades are because no matter what they are, I'll still know what I know - no more and no less. I'll keep learning all that I'm able, but not care about the grade.

The second is that there are only about 6 weeks left in the semester - 9 down & 6 to go. Woohoo! The end is in sight!

The final biggie is that I decided that I'm not going to take 20 credits again next semester. I've been taking an overload since the beginning of summer and am ready for a break. I'm just going to take ones that I want - orgo & cell/molecular bio, their labs, a couple of math classes, and a psych class. That way I'll be able to be in the lab full-time.

It also happens to be Thursday night, the night of the week when my mood swings to the positive. It's a pressure free night because I have only one class, an enjoyable math class, on Friday morning and it's too early to feel the need to get work done for Monday.

So......my performance is about the same, but I'm much more cheerful.

That's right! They won't. Suppose you had all "A's" the rest of the time. Your GPA would wind up being about 3.84 at the end of your junior year. Pretty darn impressive! Plus, you'd have that lovely "upward trend".
