How bad does it look to have a W in a PE course?

I'm planning to take two PE courses at a community college over the summer, basically for fun and to get in shape. 😛

However, I'm going to be out the country for the last week of my classes, and probably won't be able to take the finals.

So I want to take these classes, but if I get a W in both of them, how bad would it bad when I'll be applying for med school?

They're only CC courses and they're PE, but I've heard so many stories about community college courses coming back to bite students in rear when they're applying to grad and pre-professional schools. I just wanted to make sure I'm not ruining my future or anything by doing this. lol

I would just audit the class. 🙂

Had a similiar scenario. Two Fs in P.E. classes at a CC, classes my mother enrolled me into two summers when I was still in junior high school (failed due to attendance, not ability😀). Though I was required to report them to AMCAS/TMDSAS, my record was completely unaffected. Don't worry about getting a W. Adcoms are fairly discerning.

Can you not talk to the faculty and work something out to take the finals earlier/later?

Also, I took a W in Volleyball and NeuroBio my sophomore year---one of the chem pre-reqs had been full, and someone dropped the night of the deadline, so there was a lot of requesting, formal paper work, etc. These made my 2nd and 3rd W's.

It never even got brought up anywhere. I interviewed for the rural tracks at some schools, which involved 2 separate interview days---5 interview days in my entire experience, and no one even mentioned it.

AS long as you can explain the situation, then you should be fine. Just don't rack up a lot (5 is pushing it) and don't try to W pre-req's much either unless you are failing. I have 2 W's, one for a Religion class, and one for Pre-cal and I have good explanations for both of them.
