I was a chemistry major with a 3.5....whatever, that's besides the point

With the exception of bioCHEMISTRY, I have not taken most of the "suggested" courses like microbiology, genetics, and anatomy. How bad is this going to hurt if my GPA and DAT are above average/average at the schools I apply at?? I of course extensively took upper level chemistry courses that were as difficult as those biology ones....

Thanks

it shouldnt hurt you at all, as long as you have a required courses completed.

i didnt have any of the "recommended" bio courses done and I got in. I to was a chem major with a BUNCH of graduate level chem classes.

Apply and you should have a good chance getting in.

i don't have biochem eitehr but i have other bio classes...the websites say its okay. i called 2 schools too...they said its fine as long as you take the classes b4 you start d-school

It shouldn't factor too much, if at all, into a decision. Like research, if you were to have those on your transcript, such things usually only work in your favor.

As long as you've taken the required courses to get into the schools you plan to apply at, you should be fine. (and the questions on the DAT from what I remember...unless they changed it...basic science course should prepare you well enough) The thing is having gone through the first two years in dental school, what *could* hurt you is you may feel less prepared or spend more time studying for exams/tests. I would suggest take anatomy/physiology because you're going to need it more than other courses besides biochemistry. Take it over the summer at some community college even to just get an intro.

I would think it could pose more of a problem once in school, simply because you other students will have a better back ground in some of the courses you are taking...but not enough to really worry about
