I was in your shoes a while back..
Initially it took me One whole week to finish Histology alone From the Kaplan Lecture notes Because everything was new to me, but a lot of over lapping of information follows.
And I hated the Kaplan Videos for the Anatomy Section all together. I never was able to watch them. Especially Histology and Neuro. So I ended up giving them 1 week Each!
After I finished From all the Videos, I Started reading the Kaplan Lecture notes Except (Pharma and Micro and Pathology), Some BRS for Selected Topics that I feel Weak in, and along with that I did Kaplan Q bank System Wise. With FA on the same Subject.
Some Subjects you just need FA for review source Like, Micro and Pharma. But you still need to Google anything you feel that there is a concept behind that you don't understand; In general, the more you read from Wikipedia regarding a certain a high yield point. the less likely you will forget it.
This may not apply to all, but I feel that Pathoma + FA is generally enough for me in the Pathology sections.
You're Preparation has a big Gap that you're avoiding Question in the Mean time on the certainty that you will do UW x 3.
I'd say Supplement your FA Review with a Qbank. (Kaplan OR Rx), The more you do, the Higher Score you'll Get.
Subject wise or System wise. Don't Focus on your Score, Just Focus on Learning.
After you finish FA + QBank you can Take your 1st NBME then you have several options based on your score:
Option (1) You like your Score and you're satisfied with your performance> Just Take UW then and Review FA, then take your Exam
Option (2) You don't like your score, you want a higher Score> UW + DIT > another NBME > Exam
> UW + DIT + Qbank (Kaplan OR Rx) > NBME > Exam (For an Even Higher Score).
-In any of the Options, it's always a good idea to give a whole week for revision (From Marked Questions, Old Notes, Selected Videos) in between New study material.
- You can always listen to Goljan Lectures While you're not Studying.
-There is no Reason to use the Old UW, You just need the Latest.
-Exam Takers are saying that there alot of MRI's Histology Pictures So I tend to Google and Save those pictures To be familiar with on the Exam.
-I used 2013 UW system Wise + Kaplan Q bank System Wise before closing on any subject, But will have a quick 2nd Pass on UW 2014 Before the Exam.
Generally, You will Assess your Progress Based on your Score Trends in the Question Banks in comparison with the average and with your old Scores.
Also with the NBME Scores For Sure.
