So I have my exam in 9 days and I am doing through DAT destroyer but I dont know about the bio section. Some questions are super easy and some are like WTF. Can someone plz help me. Is this how DAT gonna be or harder/easier?

yo,
well I majored in Biology and still found the Biology section to be random as ****. I looked over the destroyer questions once but I'm not sure it will really prepare you for the real thing. I'd say the biggest thing is to get the basics down cold. This way you'll get those points for sure and you'll be able to make educated guesses on the random questions. I wish I could help you out more but I'm still not sure what happened to me on test day in regards to the bio section. Campbells (?) biology textbook is supposed to be pretty money if you can get your hands on that.

I thought the bio section in destroyer was pretty good. The questions covered topic that you could see on the DAT and the way the questions were asked covered four or five topics per question. The biggest bonus of destroyer I thought was that a lot of the question were multi-level and gave me more analytical thinking practice. So in the end i thought it was good. Would i recommend only destroyer bio for the DAT, NO WAY, but its a good supplement.

Agree with timwatley. Get the basics solid and you will do well on the real test.

My impression of my bio section is it is so basic. Cliff's AP Biology prepared me well. DAT destroyer is a good practice to help you really understand/memorize the basics.

Other than the basics, bio can be random. But the random part is a small portion.

My suggestion is to study Cliff's AP Biology really well. Read Campell for the sections that you really couldn't get from the brief summaries of AP.

Thanks guys, i am going over the Cliff's AP Biology as we speak. I cant believe after all these years i am going back to a high school book lool

the bio section was REALLY random. i read through cliffs twice and it helped me with at most 5 problems (prob the only fact based questions on the test). the rest of the questions were more applied knowledge questions. i guessed on quite a few and got a 19 on it, so i really don't know what to tell you. study your butt off for orgo and gchem because those are the easiest to improve.

wow so out of 40 questions only 5 of them were from the AP Cliff's. Thanks I have the exam in a week i am doing what I can in these last few days I hope I do okay. thanks for all your inputs and help.

IN order of relevance for the exam
BIO= AP CLiFFs, Kapaln, Campbells & Destroyer
Use these sources do as many as problems u can and u'll be fine destroyer has the random problems that will make u think and wonder why u need to know it trust me it will pay off bio section is as random as possible so do those problems along with the other stuff and u shud do fine otherwise u'll be in big trouble...........best of luck

I agree with tim watley. It has a lot of applied 'basic' knowledge. i thought mine was heavy with like mitosis and genetic stuff. I would advise to knmow that stuff real solid, like specifics from each stage (like which stage would be most affected if tubulin/actin were absent e.g. just off the top of my head). Also, I had a two trait crpss that kinda tripped me up (like not a 9:3:3:1). Other than that, I wish I had more time to go through destroyer bio one more time but I fell short and ran outta time. I think having another day to go through destroyer woulda helped out a lot. but ultimately my advice would be not to waste too much time in the sciences with bio, and make sure and give yourself plenty of time to do all the easy points in the chemistrys (i made this mistake). I would DEFINITELY try to be done with bio by an hour to go in sciences. hope this helps!

thanks for the respond, what kinda trait cross did u have?

Hey...I took the DAT last Wednesday.

26 Orgo
23 Bio
23 Gchem
19 PAT
18 RC
16 QR
23 TS
21 AA

The destroyer is on in every area as far as science is concerned. Know the whole destroyer inside and out and you will at least be sucessful in the science sections lol. The bio is full of good information, some a little random but still good. Make sure you know it!!! PM me if you want additional advice.

Hello,

Can anyone comment on this currently? How representative is the Bio section of the dat in comparison to Destroyer?

Thank you!
