I was just wondering how likely I am to get into Pharmacy school.
Overall GPA:3.57
College GPA: 3.27
Math/Science GPA:2.98
PCAT: 89
I have three years of Retail Pharmacy experience, a year of hospital pharmacy, and a year of volunteering in a free clinic pharmacy. I also have three good LORs. I am currently taking Organic I, Bio II, and Anatomy, and plan on getting As or Bs in each. I will be applying to the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. How likely do you think it is that I will get admitted there? What about other pharmacy schools?

Thanks for your help!

Just wondering... what do you mean by college GPA compared to your overall GPA?

Also you are pretty competitive based on your overall GPA and your pharmacy experience.

2.98 science GPA is competitive?

PCAT is good

True, but I wouldn't say extremely competitive. Where did you go to school? Where are you applying? I think those are two pertinent questions you have to ask yourself.

Competitiveness isn't determined by one statistic.

The OP is fine. Apply to a handful of schools and I would bet my ridiculous student loans that you will get into at least one.

Your overall gpa is good, pcat is good, experience, and volunteer. you have it all. i'd say you are a competitive applicant at iowa and other schools

Planning on getting As, I like that.

PCAT couldn't get much better. Math and Science GPA is pretty horrid considering that's in classes prior to orgo?

Can you get into a school of pharmacy? Yes, most likely. Are you going to get to choose where you go? No without limitations.

Seriously, I hate to come off as rude. but people who post these questions really are asking them at the wrong place. Competitiveness depends on so many factors that your fellow SDN members really don't know about. Your applicant pool could be filled with 4.0 Harvard grads with 4+ years of pharmacy experience or with 2.0s college grads. You never know.

If you really want to know your chances, take initiative. Set up an appointment with the school you are applying to. Physically go there with your transcripts and resume. Sit down with some admissions staff and really talk to them about your chances.

Also the WAMC thread is there for a reason, use it. Repetitively starting isolated WAMC threads just clutters the forums.

Do some research before you post. I'm not gonna lie, I ask some stupid questions too. But not before I take some time to search for previous years threads about the respective school and look at school statistics. take a look at table 8. Go to AACP and really study all the tables like this one:

http://www.aacp.org/resources/student/pharmacyforyou/admissions/Documents/Table 8.pdf.

I've never been to pharmacy school but I am assuming that potential pharmD students should have some research capabilities. Good day to you sir. and Yes I know I'm not a MOD and know this post was not necessary and this is none of my business. I just had to get this off my chest.

Good luck with applications😀

In the past the mods have done a good job merging these threads in WAMC thread and PharmCAS questions into the official thread.

Every worthless thread that gets posted pushes a useful thread to the next page...

If your applicant pool is a bunch of 4.0 students from Harvard huh? Yeah that might make things different if it ever happened.

I see a lot of people consider this applicant competitive, but is he still considered competitive even without a bachelors degree?

Good point.. It all depends on which school they apply to. Some schools place higher competitiveness to those with degrees, while other schools I know state on their websites that a bachelors degree isn't prioritized higher than somebody without one

I have a 2.63 Overall GPA and using my newest grades since I had to retake them since its been over 9 years I have roughly a 3.3 Science/Math GPA taking the pcat in novemeber, pharmacy experience. any help ?
