From my understanding from previous threads, this is the information on getting into the Wayne State Post-Bacc program:
>First, you have to be a first genereation college student (alot of people >get the post-bacc program mixed up with the bms program, but they >have nothing to do with each other)
>Second, you don't have to be african american, however most of the >students are african american ( in our class we have one arab and one >white, yet past classes have had other minorities and whites)... Third, >you have to come from a disadvantaged background (as you can see >that leaves the door wide open in terms of why you should be accepted)
>Fourth, you must be a michigan resident
>Fifth, if you complete the post-bacc program, you are guaranteed >admittance into med school (if you enter the post-bacc program in 2006, >then you enter med school in 2007)
>Finally, the process is as follows: You apply to wayne. You are rejected >from wayne. Wayne feels that you have the potential to succeed in med >school, so they forward you application to the post-bacc prgram. Post->bacc will screen you app and determine if you meet their guidelines. If >so, post-bacc will invite you for an interview. Then you are >accepted/rejected/or an alternate.
>Post-bacc takes in 16 students per year, so it's pretty competitive
My questions is, just how competitive is this program? So far, I meet all of the requirements. I also read that you need a minimum gpa of 2.2, but I'm sure that since only 16 students are accepted a year, the average gpa is much higher. Does anybody have an idea of what the average gpa and mcat score is for this program? Thank you to anyone with the answers, and have a great St. Patties Day!!!
