I keep reading these "DAT Done" threads and I'm amazed at how many people were surprised at their >20 scores. I know Achiever makes you feel like you can't achieve jack but it got me thinking...for the people that have taken the DAT and did well (20+)...how confident did you feel about getting a great score the morning of the exam?

Did that confidence build after taking numerous practice tests or was it because you believed you had mastered the material?

i went in there thinking i am going to get a 19 again, but once i started doing gen chem and ochem i got a lot of confidence and it just helped me throughout the exam. I did both achiever and top score but I kept getting 19, 20's on my aa. Don't get discouraged if you do bad, but always go voer your mistakes. good luck

before topscore i had loads of confidence... then two weeks before the test i decided to practice with it and repeatedly got a lot lower than i had expected (17-20 range) so i was very humbled walking into the real thing. but i ended up doing a lot better than topscore (except in QR. 17 on topscore and 17 on the real thing argh!) just keep the positive self talk going even if you don't believe it, and push the negatives out of your head! and make sure to learn from the problems you messed up on topscore, achiever, etc.

The night before the exam I couldn't sleep. Went to bed (I think) around 10-11PM, never got knocked out. Just stay'd in bed tossing and turning till morning next day. Woke up, no breakfast, just ALOT of water (30+ oz), tried to go running, but I couldn't, came back home and waited for my test time.

I scheduled my test around noon time.

I didn't know what to expect out of my test, but I had set a few rules of retake... I was going to retake if:
-I got less than 19AA or 19TS
-I got less than 17 in ANY section

If my rules above were satisfied, no retake was necessary.

I was pretty confident going in. My test scores had finished at around 23AA and 24 PAT so I knew I was prepared. No matter how prepared you are though, you need to realize that you need to focus. When it comes down to it, there's nothing else you can do so you just have to be as positive as possible.
