How difficult is it to get a position as assistant professor of somewhat newly made college of pharmacy?

Is such academic position competitive to get? I'm assuming the salary might be slightly on the lower side compared to the retail but offer much much better life style/career options in the future?

How does this position come by?

You have to do a residency or have several years experience for most teaching positions.
