Hi! I recently got accepted into medical school in australia and i'm still wondering if i should go or not. Does anyone know the typical workload of a medical school student and if there are many dropouts?

thanks!

Its difficult from my understanding.

I would think that it is no less confusing than this though....

...i dont see a reason not to attend. as long as your school is recognized and accepted, then by all mean go for it...

...a MD is a MD.. unless you are more into rankings and reputation...

Difficult? Well, it's hard work. You can work as hard as you want in medical school. But difficult, like hard to actually succeed even with determined effort? Well...I guess that depends on the individual.

If you're not sure about going to medical school, think it over carefully before making your final decision. It will likely be far more work than college; if that's not your thing, then it's probably not right for you at this time.

If you're worried about whether or not you'll be able to do it - and asking about people dropping out - it's uncommon, but not unheard of for people to drop out. A few change their minds, every once in a while someone can't keep up with the work.

If you have questions about med school in Australia, send a PM to WingedScapula. She attended school in Australia and is now a surgery attending and moderator on SDN.

Kind of a broad question. You may want to check out the med student forum or the Australian school section of www.valuemd.com

Depends on where the OP wants to practice.

Hm. Does the medical school application process work incredibly different from the U.S.'s? icekoffee, I may have read into your post too much, but it seems like you applied to medical school with literally no knowledge whatsoever. I would highly, highly recommend shadowing some Doctors to see what they actually do before you spend four years and a minimum of $100,000 on a whimsical ambition.
