How easy is working as a retail pharmacist? What kind of work do you do in retail pharmacy? Does the work consist of counting and pouring pills? Are there actual mixing of medicines? How much consulting is there?

Try a different line of work. If you don't have enough common sense to search the forum and on google then you don't deserve to be in this profession.

I ask looking for an answer, not to be re-directed to a search engine.

You need to do a little more reserch. People need to get over the idea that pharmacists is some simple easy job. When you're dealing with the well being of another human being, you need to be a professional. I get so sick and tired of people just reducing the profession to just counting pills and being so called "fake doctors."

Thats why I'm asking. Can you explain what kind of work a pharmacist do besides counting pills?

I posted b/c you're too damn lazy to research. How many threads are you going to start b/c you can't search? Yeah I can imagine you getting through any sort of grad program. You basically insulted me and many of those who chose this profession by stating, " does it consist of counting and pouring pills."

Look up "Pfizer's Guide to Careers in Pharmacy" or something like that. You get a 100 page PDF explaining all of the different fields in pharmacy. Very good read.

I am not a retail pharmacist and I don't work for one, but from what I see is that, to work in retail pharmacy, you have to be able to deal with customers and insurence paperwork. You make sure the pharm techs are doing their jobs of counting and assorting pills. And you probably make sure to check up on inventory of certain drugs. You also have to be willing to work long or odd hours and work on weekends. When you are working for people, you have to be there for them. It's not some 9-5 job with 40 hours a week.

It all depend on what your personality is like and how well you function up under pressure...Retail pharmacy is probably the most stressful due to the large volume of scripts you would have to fill and all of the responsiblities you'll have to perform in a day . Also, pharmacy is moving beyond the current notion of just counting pills. You probably have a better relationship with the patient than the patient has with the doctor prescribing the medication. Hope this help 😀 .
