How do adcoms see course audits?

I'm not sure how widely this is known, but Berkeley Extension lets you designate on the last day of class whether you want the class to be for credit, pass/fail, or not-for-credit.

Right before the exam I freaked out about getting a B or less in the class and put myself down for NC (not for credit).

I wonder how this looks on my record. Potentially, I might be able to explain it away as auditing the class because I was nervous about taking Organic Chemistry 5 years after my last chemistry course, so I decided to audit. However, who knows whether or not that will fly.

Just curious if anyone had any comments about how this realistically looks to adcoms. Thanks in advance!
 
Well if its not for credit, you are going to have repeat it.

I think if you phrase it like "I wanted to ease myself back into chemistry following a long hiatus" - then its fine. if you phase it with "I freaked out about getting a B or less in the class", probably not as well.
