Well I only got a 6 in VR, with 11 PS and 10 BS. Due to the nature of being non native English speaker I'm not sure if I could improve my VR score.

Anyone knows how they measure the unbalanced MCAT score?

You are fine with 6 in VR. Stop worrying!

Uhmm, no? I would say this is going to get you screened from at least some places. The only way to improve it is to read, read, read, practice, practice, practice.

Survivor DO

Well, international student here. I'll definitely be screened OUT of some places. Sigh

This is not legitimate advice.

You maybe will get in somewhere, but a 6 is definitely something to worry about. I second Survivor DO's advice. Really buckle down and see if you can get that number up. Good luck!

OP not sure he/she can improve...Why risk having a lower score when OP might likely get in somewhere with the 6?

I wish the OP best of luck and truly hope he/she gains acceptance. But a 6 in in a sub-section is tough and I wouldn't say its "likely," but it is possible.

OP, here's what I would do: If you really don't think you can up your score then apply and roll the dice. In the meantime, up until the end of summer, schedule a retake as far out as you think is reasonable and work as hard as possible to up your score and take practice tests every so often. Apply with a retake pending. If you are improving, re-take the test. If not, proceed as originally planned. The only thing to lose is a MCAT cancelation fee (a drop in the bucket compared to 4 yrs of school) and a couple months of work (negligible compared to the road to becoming an attending).

Good luck!

In my experience VR is slightly 'riggable.' I am 100% sure you can do better with a little practice - your other scores say you can learn/retain fine. Everyone's mind has a strategy that works best, find yours and your score WILL rise

Thanks man! It's exactly what I planned.

My simulation tests scores were never below a 30 (although sometimes 6 in VR showed up). I don't know what happened in the test. The 6 kinda destroyed my confidence.🙁

But with a retake pending, they will review my application late and it becomes harder to get in. I've schedulated the exam on 07/02.

ESL? I think I'm not. Should a guy who completed his postbac with GPA 3.76 called ESL?😀

I got 7 interviews and two acceptances with a 10/6/10 MCAT last year. You're fine! I would submit that app soon though!

OH man good to hear that. Could you please share your stats?

I'm thinking I'm international student and non native English speaker. It may drag me down but if they consider that fact I may get chances. It's just dilemma here.

😱 are you suggesting ESL students can't get a 3.76 GPA on purely science subjects?

You can probably hack out an acceptance if you apply wide.

Yes I'm gonna apply all the schools that accepting international students (around 15-20 I think). Besides mcat I think I have above average ECs and good PS. But LORs may not be strong enough (committee letter and another three LORs, only one is strong and the other two are good)
