If I attend a dental school in california and decide to move to PA, is there a way for me to take PA clinical in CA or do i have to be in PA? or would PA recognize CA's license?

thanks a lot!

You would have to take NERB in one of the states that offer NERB clinical exams. That means you will have to bring your patients with you (or have patients arranged in that city). PA won't recognize CA license until you apply for reciprocity. This usually means you would have to have held the CA dental license for 5 years with proof of your full-time employment (and/or advanced dental education/specialty training counts upto 2 years) prior to applying for PA dental license under reciprocity clause.

Of course you can take both California and NERB clinical exams (both require time and money). Is it so important that you move back to PA? Why didn't you goto a dental school in the NERB state then?

Are you really a pastor's wife??

thanks for clearing that up.
i am considering to move back to PA because my husband's job requires him to move around a lot. and yes i'm 100% pastor's wife. why would i call myself a pastor's wife if i wasn't on? 🙂

thanks!

Thanks for clearing that up. I have thought about seminary in the past, but dentistry was tough enough for me...

...and as for your burning dental questions:

Really it doesn't matter what dental school you graduate from. If you goto a California school and really want to practice somewhere farawy like in PA, then you will find a way to complete your NERB exams while you are in the school. So don't worry too much about the future, just yet... Enjoy what you've achieved and plan ahead a little bit at a time.
