i know its a stupid question, but seriously, faxing is so 90's. i dont know how to use one.

moreover, which schools are okay with faxing the unofficial dat score report?

can someone make a list and give me their # so i know what to fax to (with special instructions if needed)

sorry if i sound lost, but that's because i am.

Alright let's hold your hand one more time.

Fax is just like using a phone.
1) Insert paper
2) Dial number
3) Press fax

As for which schools?...Call them!

Go to staples... dont use the free services they have other crap on your fax...

keep it professional man why take a risk for couple $ go to staples or fedex Kinko's.

That's the right step to go.👍

Do you guys know if Western, USC, UNLV, UoP, Harvard, UCLA, Maryland, NYU, Boston, UCSF, ASDOH accept faxes of the unofficial score reports?

And if so, it's gonna suck because my test is on Saturday; wouldn't that mean I'd have to wait until Monday to fax them??

I know that Western, UCLA, UOP, Maryland, UCSF and ASDOH are a no. From what they told me. They wait for the official via DENTPIN. UCSF actually told me they don't wait for retakes period. You'll find a thread on that somewhere in the forums.

You can always try yourself.

Faxing is not so "90s"...its a commonly used method of communication in the business world. I would suggest you acquaint yourself with the technology. It's an important aspect of all business practices (including dental offices).
Contact the schools or go on their websites for fax #s....then place the paper in the fax machine, dial the # and press SEND.......really simple bud.

fax machines work on the weekends too......they will pick it up on monday.

Do I call them to ask if it's okay or do I just fax it directly (go online and look up their #)

What? Faxing, I've never done. Maybe once somewhere but it's just new. We used to have a fax machine, but then we got rid of it in like 1999. Everything is digital nowadays.

But yeah, should I call them to ask them or should I just go ahead and fax?

yes you should just fax it. Put your AADSAS ID on the cover letter so they know where it should go. If you want...give them a call like 15 min. later or on monday to see if they received it.
BTW.....faxes are everywhere 2pacClone23....dont fool yourself into believing any different. Digital is a good technology....but faxes are still (and will remain) used.
I'll guarantee that you will be a pro at faxing by the time you finish faxing all the schools 😉

Wait, what's a cover letter? I thought I just faxed the unofficial score report...

I know, I'm biting my tongue hard. Must... not.... unleash!

👍

Stop embarrassing yourself on SDN. Do everyone a huge favor... Google "how to send a fax" and "what is a fax cover letter" it would be much more efficient. Good luck!!! 😀

:troll: ?!??!

PLEASE tell us you are trolling.

Well it seems everyone here isn't answering your question...

You probably don't need a cover letter when you fax. I called all of my schools today and asked "do you accept faxed or scanned/emailed DAT score reports" and if yes, then "do I need a cover letter?" They all said no, and Case said it's optional, but not really needed. So, only one sheet per school that allows you to fax in scores. Also ask for their fax number as they may have multiple machines. Write down all of your fax numbers, take them to an office/printing store and say "I need this sheet of paper faxed to these numbers, thanks!" They will then fax it for you, and give you a confirmation of delivery when it arrives at the school's fax machine.

To make it even easier for you, these schools accept faxed score reports: Case, Columbia, UPenn (accepts emailed ones too), Baylor, NYU, and Tufts.

These schools do not accept faxes: Pacific, UCSF, Houston, and UTHSCSA

Hope that helps. On the other hand, I will have to agree with everyone else and say that Google could've easily answered questions on faxing and faxing etiquette in general, I don't think SDN is your only source for info 😉

I'll call them all up tomorrow.
